At the gym with Kajsa. Had planned long cross-trainer session but altered my plans because of my hamstring insertion, so did a much shorter time on the machines and went to do strength training instead. So much more fun when not alone!!

Sleety, hard to grip in road shoes on the slushy grass! Took a map to look at, aggeeesss since I did any proper technical training, probs time to get my o brain working again.
Still really tight in my hamstring, time to do something about it before I get the tendinitis badly again. So, tomorrow I'll probably be confined to the swimming pool to give it a bit of a break. Meh.

Today I've realised that I am actually completely stressed out with work (multiple essay deadlines looming), no wonder my body's not behaving! Right leg feeling really stiff all the way down the back, shin not too happy either. So decided to spend the time working, feel sooo much better now I've got stuff out of the way. Even went to the library! Have a great day of training lined up for tomorrow, so will finish work, stretch and look forward to that :-)

6x4mins / 90s recovery. Right inner hamstring tight, stretched afterwards and using hot water bottle to try and help it loosen off. Will try to be careful, especially when building up running. Shin feels fine after yesterday though, which is great! :-)

Woke up feeling the same as yesterday, so no early morning training, but felt loads better after lectures (got a bit of extra sleep in linguistics!) ...
slush and sleet meant that for the sake of my shin (altering my gait in the slush was what helped kick it off in the first place) and my immune system i kept indoors, so running tomorrow instead?

Throat not amazing again, so scrapped aquarunning plans and just did gentle xtrainer session instead... felt like I still had quite a lot of energy, temperature fine and eating okay so there's not much wrong, it's just dead annoying it keeps coming back!
Think my weight's about right now, will try to keep it between 53 and 55kg.

Holyrood Park, nice and forsty, actually remembered to strap my shin this time! No problems, could have gone a bit slower but having too much fun. Need to work on self-discipline!

Gym afterwards, to make a decent-length training. Left calf feeling a bit tight on the inside, will get it sorted out at physio later today.

Crazy X-trainer in Whitby was really different to the ones in CSE! Was a good training though, had hoped to get some running in at the end but it was icy and snowy on the grass and I didn't have the right shoes, thought it best not to take any risks. Earnt myself a nice piece of cake at lunchtime. Om nom :-). Hamstring tendon getting a bit tight though, will get it loosened off in physio tomorrow.

Woke up feeling sore-throaty again, so not the training I planned. Felt better later on, so went for a small jog followed by some messing about with a swiss ball and other bits and pieces. Travelled home for the weekend.

Woke up with a heavy head and a bit of a tingly throat so cancelled planned aquarunning. Felt better in the afternoon, so wrapped up warm and went for a little jog. Shin felt loads better, not painful but swollen a bit afterwards so got some ibuprofen gel on it :-)
Really nice to run, felt dead strong apart from being not quite 100%.
Hope to get a good night's sleep tonight to help me recover.
These past two weeks have been quite tough training, it makes a change for me to push myself so hard instead of being over-cautious, it's a good thing to know where my limits are. After an easier week next week, I'll do more of the same, trying not to quite push so hard that I end up a bit ill!

Head feeling kinda heavy and throat a teeny bit tingly, so bailed on all training except a little core stability, calf raises and ankle stuff. Don't feel really ill, think its just being run-down after a few hard days training (for me!) and not enough sleep.

Kind of needed this I think. Soooooo hungry all day, can't seem to fill myself up! Need this day to catch up with myself before I do any more training. Can feel shin a bit, but in the muscle on the outside rather than near the bone on the inside. Swelling seems to have gone down, so probs okay for another little run tomorrow :-)

Quads feeling really heavy today and feeling a bit tired generally. Temperture ok though, so maybe its just because I didn't sleep so well last night and am tired from training?

Did half the warm-down on the cross-trainer, using advice from yesterday to try and correct my appalling technique (normally can only go backwards cos otherwise my calves get seriously tight, apparently I need to stand back more so my heels dig in and there's not much weight on my toes) ... seemed a bit better but still felt a bit weird. Practice needed!

Had planned to go for another little jog but shin not settled after massage at physio yesterday so didn't go. Really getting annoyed with it so phoned Kim for advice, she said a) don't go to physio and b) go running!

Kept heartrate between 60 and 70%, good stretch after. Shin feeling a little sore this morning so no running - will see physio this afternoon for advice. Can it just hurry up and get better already?!

Don't even want to know how many calories I have eaten today! Sooooo hungry all the time, didn't sleep properly cos I was hungry in the night too. I'm gonna have to be dead careful that I'm eating enough, think I'm still getting used to doing a half-decent amount of training. Hopefully its all going to the right places i.e. my legs and not my middle!

Decided to keep Thursday (instead of Friday) as my rest day because it's my heaviest day for lectures, it seems to fit well with what training I am doing at the moment. Tomorrow I should have two nice trainings, and only one lecture at 9 so no need to mess about doing stuff before breakfast :-)

Same as Monday but on less of an incline (was warned about making my calves too tight)... maybe felt a bit of something in my shin this time, didn't have the discipline to stop, but hope its just from the massage that I had on Monday. Also my hamstring tendonitis has raised its ugly head again from cycling, so will take a break from that for a few days while it settles down again. Had planned for aquarunning this afternoon, but pool timetable says otherwise sooo looks like back to CSE for strength and core stuff...

First running since shin splints started, trying 3 x 120s/60s fairly slowly on a 6% incline. Completely fine, v happy XD

Physio... shin still a little tender to press, so told to go careful with the running and only run on alternate days. Got that and calf loosened off.
