Orienteering at Peffer Woods, set by David Waller. First time I've run in ten or eleven weeks. My foot did pretty well, but the run into the finish was just a slog, and I was running with heavy footfalls, and about 10m from the finish, my foot started hurting again.

I walked the second race, and didn't have much additional pain.

No idea what's wrong. Also, I was really exhausted on an early climb on the second race. I'm either really, really out-of-shape, or there is something wrong with me. I think I need to spend some time googling. If I can't figure something out by Monday or so, I think I need to talk to my doctor.

A hilly ride near my hometown. I haven't ridden much, and this was obviously too much too soon. I felt fine until about halfway through, and then I rode up a little hill and basically had nothing left. It was sort of a power limitation. I could pedal mostly fine on flats and downhills, but as soon as a hill got above a certain slope, *boom*, I just blew up. I walked three hills---just the steepest sections. (And they weren't particularly steep.)

On the first big hill (Wolf Creek Road), I passed some old riding buddies (going the other way) and we had a short visit.

It was a good ride. There was a lot of vertical development in the clouds as I started, but maybe 40 minutes in, the sky had cleared remarkably. During the ride, I had a short visit with my aunt and uncle, and I stopped by my mother's and grandmother's graves. My mom died in a car crash fourteen years ago, today. Some days, like July 14, are still pretty tough.
