Running 53:00 [3] 6.26 km (8:28 / km)
shoes: Brooks

A change of pace tonight. I was dropping someone off in Mason, a few miles away, so I parked the car and did a long-ish run (long for me). It was very flat, probably 30 or 40m total. Unfortunately, it was about half without sidewalks. I didn't mention that it was in the dark, so I took an LED headlamp for the runner-unfriendly segments.

A really nice run. I walked maybe 5 minutes total. My legs are completely toast. I've got the ripped muscle fiber feeling and random little muscle spasms. I will be feeling this for a few days.

It was a pretty cool route. I just pulled up gmaps and planned a loop, but it ended up a little long. So I found a few places to go off the road to link up a shorter loop. I was a little worried about the rent-a-cop security types, but the cool thing about this route was that if they passed me, there was a good chance I wouldn't be in an obvious place when they turned around.

I doubt that I'd do this same route again, though. Certainly parts of it. I tried to print an aerial photo, but the printer is non-functional for some reason.

And yes, I really can run that slow.

Running 34:45 [3] 4.17 km (8:20 / km) +70m 7:41 / km
shoes: Brooks

One-hill route plus a loop around the rec center.

Wow. A great night for a run. Sort of a cool summer night. Just perfect weather. I have been feeling especially out of shape lately, and I was really surprised to actually feel good running. I had a small dinner several hours earlier, but I felt almost full before I started. That feeling went away a little into the run. That was surprising all by itself.

It was a really good run. None of the normal stopping at 500m to catch my breath. I ran for all but about 1 minute, and I ran the whole hill. It was really weird because my heart rate normally just keeps raising on the hill, but today I was actually able to ease off a little and recover while I was still running. That is something I haven't been able to do for a long time.

I need to be running at least 30 minutes at least four times a week. That's my new goal.
