Running 35:00 [2] *
slept:4.0 shoes: Brooks

Ran around Eagle Creek East in Indianapolis with a map. Stayed on trails and roads. Started out feeling bad, and had some muscle twinges that didn't quite cramp in the first 5 minutes, but then I got warmed up and felt great. In the last half, though, I had a bug attacking my hair. I couldn't outrun it, even though I tried a few times. I don't think I'm ready to try the blue cup yet.

I packed quickly this morning, and remembered everything but shorts and socks, so I made a pass by Dick's on the way from my meeting to the hotel and bought some new running gear. (I sorta needed it anyway.)

Movies since last Thursday:

Wargames (1). I had forgotten how brazen Matthew Broderick seemed in this movie. I watched it with Brach and Katie, and they seemed shocked, but they also recognized MB as Ferris Bueller. I wonder if FB was written because of WG?

Mission Impossible 3 (1). I almost feel dirty giving this a 1, but I actually enjoyed it. Go figure.

Gorky Park (1)

Tommy: The Who (0): This movie sucks. I know I had seen this movie back in the 80's, and I remember sort of liking it, but my only guess for why I didn't hate it then is that maybe I slept through most of it. At least I hope I did.

Oceans 11 (1): After thinking 13 sucked, I had to go back and rewatch 11---and Brach and Katie had not seen it. It's not as good the second time, but I still liked it better than the others.

ARDF Setting 2:15:00 [2] ***
shoes: Adidas Tri-Star Cleats ($35)

I set this year's OH-KY-IN Field Day ARDF. 2m. One transmitter, mine, didn't work because I had incorrect dip switch settings that included a start delay.

It was a tiny bit rainy, and the forest leaves were soaking wet from dew, I guess.

This is our first ARDF in a long time. I was surprised how long it took, but there were intentional and unintentional traps for the hunters. The biggest unintentional problem was that two of our transmitters have 1/3 the power output of the other two, and I placed a quiet one close and a loud one a little farther away.

No one (of three competitors) had the same order, but one guy did run the course backwards because he didn't know there was a start corridor. Unfortunately he had the best time, because backwards was a lot easier than forwards.

I was completely beat when I got home. I think the Friday Night-O' did me in. I'm still taking antihistamines, but I'm feeling better and better.
