Note

Here's my GPS track from Sunday at Camp Hook. This is a link to my website, offcycle.org , which is for radio orienteering, something I just love to do. I am slowly populating it with content, so it's pretty rough right now.

Orienteering race 1:01:34 [4] *** 4.29 km (14:21 / km)
11c shoes: Adidas $42 Cleats

MVOC Event at Camp Hook, near Germantown, Ohio. Fairly short Green Course. My actual track was 4.29km. I had a lot of trouble near the end figuring out the map. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying I had trouble---probably fatigue. After my 1 hour run yesterday (long by my standards), I was just beat the whole way. Toward the end I did get my legs to run nicely a few times. I tried out my SealSkinz socks---They're not unlike neoprene socks, but they're supposed to be much more breathable than neoprene. I suppose they're a "membrane sock". Very nice results: My shoes were wet, but my feet were just very slightly sweaty. (I did wear a thin pair of wool socks against my skin.) Last year doing fieldwork for the Flying Pig, I had a lot of days with cold, wet feet for just hours. I'm hoping these continue to work as advertised... I'll have a GPS track here in the next day or so.

Running 1:05:00 [3] 7.42 km (8:46 / km)
shoes: Brooks

Ran around Sharon Woods Park for a little over an hour. I did walk some, maybe 5%. Felt pretty good, but still slow slow slow. I probably shouldn't have done the long run today due to tomorrow's event in Dayton, but I laid off all of last week. Nice temperature to be out---It started out sunny and blue sky, and then toward the end there was this little snow squall with probably 150m visibility. Then sunny again, but with some clouds. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow.
