Running 10:06 [3] 1.47 km (6:52 / km)
shoes: Brooks

Got home from work, and just had to sleep a couple hours. Then was my birthday party, which was great. Then I had to drive 45 minutes to Mike Minium's house to program SI controls for Saturday's Billy Pig. (For the first time, I'll be running the BillyPig, rather than the Piglet. I've heard 12.9km, maybe 12.2 after skip.) Anyway, I got home at 1am, finished some e-mail at 1:35am, and felt like I just had to do something involving exercise. So...I did 10 minutes. So, yeah, I'm checking the block even though it's 2 hours past my birthday, but...it's more important today.
(Side note: I had to get my license renewed at lunchtime, so I got to eat alone in the restaurant of my choice. I chose "Akashi", a Japanese place, and had the chicken teriyaki. It's one of my favorite meals. It comes with this awesome Miso soup, a little salad with some sweet orange peel dressing, and this little fried corn and potato (?) thing that's just amazing. I'm still learning to use chopsticks, but they've got this amazing sticky rice. With a little soy sauce, I think rice like that would be great for an after race snack table...

Note

Today was my 40th Birthday. It's been sort of a non-event emotionally, so I tell people I'm taking it pretty well. My 27th birthday was probably my worst and the closest thing to a mid-life crisis I've had so far. And my niece and nephew got me an Ipod nano. Anyway, after this 10 minute long evaluation of my life, I can only say: (1) That I'm not doing as well as I'd like, and (2) I'm incredibly blessed with family and friends.
