2m ARDF at Mt. Airy Forest (frisbee golf course parking lot), set by Marji Garrett. An excellent course. Short, but with a "big course" feel. I felt like I had to be careful. A few problems, maybe: A couple transmitters seemed to have low output. It could be the lower-than-normal antenna placements, but it's hard to say. Brian (k4bri) beat me by about 21 minutes. I think I was ahead of Dick at least ten minutes. My order was 35412, the exact opposite of both Brian and Dick (again---I think).
Hot, but a beautiful day. I felt pretty good climbing, for a change. Transmitters are at my splits 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 (corresponding to 3, 5, 4, 1, 2). (The splits with "1" as distance are auto-splits.)
Pacific Rim (1): A big budget summer blockbuster. A lot of fun. Amazing effects, and a pretty decent story.
Hansel and Gretel (1): I can't believe I'm giving this the (1). It's like 88 minutes long. Jeremy Renner seems to be embarrassed that he's in it. But---I really liked it. It was fun. The effects were good. The fights were really fun. I apologize if this sounds sexist---it is---But. If you're making a movie about witches. And you cast really beautiful women to play the witches. Maybe you should rethink the rules of your story. Maybe you shouldn't have a "rule" that only the lead witch can appear in her own face. Because. Dude, like they're totally hot. Also---of orienteering interest---the director is Norwegian, and a lot of the cast is Scandinavian. I'm just saying.
