US ARDF Champs 80m day. Brutal effort. The combination of 7000+ feet altitude and moderate-to-high climb just killed me. The 2m day map had me thinking like Churchill: "Never, Never, Never Go Straight," so I was hoping today's map would be better. Well, it was, sort of. The start and finish were reasonably close together, and I think two orders were correct (sort of CW and CCW). I went CW, because I thought it would be shorter, and the mapping around the first four points was pretty good. White was white, and the green was as-mapped. All was okay until I needed to get from 1 to 3, and my eye said, "Go pretty much straight", which meant uphill about 100m (20 contours) to a trail. It was mapped white, but wasn't, and the mapping of the trail *had* to be wrong. Looking at the times for 1-3 (uphill) and 3-1 (downhill) indicate to me that the leg had serious problems. I got out-ran by two people (who beat me by about an hour), but it was good enough for bronze.
