ARDF Setting 1:30:00 [1] ***
slept:3.0 shoes: Nike GoreTex

Set an ARDF for Dick and Brian. I forgot a compass and got turned 90deg between 3 and 2. Relocated easily, but still, it cost me at least 10 minutes.

Course set-check-pick 1:45:00 [2] ***
slept:3.0 (injured) shoes: Nike GoreTex

Checked control locations for the May 15 sprints. Back started to hurt---muscle pain. Overdid it. Let's see how I feel tomorrow.

Note
(injured)

I hurt my back somehow. I noticed it right after my 26 minute run. It set off a whole bunch of warning bells (due to location, mostly), so I went to the doctor. She ordered X-rays, and I had about 7 images taken. I am much better today (two days later), so it was a case of being too careful. Freaked me out a little.

Running 26:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks

Ran with Katie. Ran all the way up a long, gentle hill, which is a real challenge for me. One of my short term goals is to get enough fitness to be able to run most of the time when I orienteer. Right now I can run downhill and on flats for a certain time. Except at the beginning of a race, I can't run up anything but the most gentle slopes.

Note

I had two reasons for starting my log on Attackpoint. First was to have a convenient, cool log. But the real big reason was to have it out there for people to see. I wanted the pressure. With no training from last Thursday to tonight, it really worked. I've been thinking about getting out since Monday *mostly* because I was sliding down the list.

Running 1:01:00 [2]
shoes: Brooks

Ran with Katie to the Mastodons in Sharon Woods and then the short loop around the lake. Walked a lot---Katie wasn't feeling well---but I did push it a little on the hills. My quads are toast. Tried running down the golf course hill (paved), but my L knee had some sharp pains, so I took it easy for awhile.

ARDF 2m race 1:56:04 [4] *** 5.0 km (23:13 / km) +360m 17:04 / km
spiked:3/5c shoes: Nike GoreTex

First ARDF of the year, I think. McFarlan Woods, set by Dick Arnett. Awesome course. I screwed up 2 so bad I couldn't believe it---wasted about six cycles. It was the nut holding the radio more than the reflections.

Cycling 1:08:00 [3] 13.7 km (4:58 / km)
shoes: Sidi ATB

I am in such bad shape. This is the hardest bike ride I've had in about five years, and it wasn't that much of a ride. I did a lot of hills. I love bikes. Rode with Brach. I was holding him back a little, but I realized when we got back that his front wheel was dangerously out of true. It was all jittery, but he didn't even complain about it. Most of the spokes took about two turns to tighten---several took over 4.
