Run - Trail (Shenipsit - Northbound) 1:35:00 [2] 11.0 km (8:38 / km)

7:30am - cloudy, moderately warm. Felt pretty lousy, stomach crampy etc. But its been a week since I ran so I forced myself out the door. Probably only ran well for about a 1/3 of the time, rest of it was shuffle or walk.... Hope I lose this malaise soon so I can start training for woody.... [Brahmas]

Sunday Jul 23, 2000 #

Run - Trail (Shenipsit Trail South) 59:18 [3] 11.5 km (5:09 / km)

10:30am - sunny, warm, humid - ran from house out new section of ST, across 140 and north. Ran about 4 minutes north of 5-way trail intersection, then turned around. Negative splits by about 3 minutes. [Brahmas]

Saturday Jul 22, 2000 #

Run - Trail (Sampler) 32:29 [3] 6.5 km (5:00 / km)

8:00 am - First run since rogaine, felt fine, but time was a little off expected pace. Ran with Bruce. Not many folks at the forest this AM. [Brahmas]

Sunday Jul 16, 2000 #

Rogaine (Allegany) 5:30:00 [3] 21.5 km (15:21 / km)

5:45am - second loop of rogaine. Left at dawn and walked/ran well, hit controls well and stayed right on schedule. If we had done this well yesterday, we might still be in contention. As it was we settled for 2nd mixed open in the 24 hour event but our overall score was well down the ranks.

Rogaine (Allegany) 13:30:00 [3] 43.2 km (18:45 / km)

12:00 noon - first loop of Allegany Rogaine - rain, cool - too ambitious a first loop, when we cut controls we were left with lousy options, almost 5 hours without a control before coming in at 1:30AM. Physically felt fine, just low confidence in the early evening hours.

Run - Trail (Jerry's Folly) 46:15 [3] 6.4 km (7:14 / km)

6:30am - cool, sunny - trail run w/ basemap plus some orienteering. [Brahmas]

Run - Trail (Soapstone) 1:05:50 [4] 13.0 km (5:04 / km)

8:00am - Ran with Ken Clark, Bruce Marvonek & Tom Skrocki - an 'easy' run for Ken, good pace for the rest of us, ended up going straight through some firm mud about 6 miles in, everyone skirted the edge, I wound up in front and ended up pushing and finishing about 2.5 minutes ahead of the rest.... [Brahmas]

Going to Alleghany Rogaine next weekend, so will likely run tomorrow AM and then take it easy for the rest of the week, try to get full nights sleep each night.

Run - Trail (Crandalls) 16:14 [4] 3.68 km (4:25 / km)

5:45am - 50F, Sunny - Worked right through the holiday weekend so needless to say, I have not gotten much running done in the past week. But since I now know the true length of the Crandalls course, I pushed the pace hard from the beginning even though I was not sure how my legs would respond. But they did and I was moving well in spite of a bit of asthma. [Brahmas]

It looks like I will be going to Alleghany Rogaine next week after all, so I will try to get a couple of 2-3 hour runs in this weekend, then coast through next week to be rested up for the long event.

Monday Jul 3, 2000 #

Orienteering (Gay City) 1:17:41 [4] 8.23 km (9:26 / km)

8:00am - sunny, hot, humid - re-ran RY1 from '98 Troll Cup. Pretty much similar conditions except greener and deerflies are out. West side of map pretty crappy running with lots of fern obscuring lousy footing. Very slow on legs 10-12. Rest seemed pretty good - average pace on rest of course was 7:40/km. [Brahmas - I like these shoes...]

Other (Crandalls) 36:37 [2] 3.68 km (9:57 / km)

6:15am - sunny, pleasant - borrowed Gerry's wheel and actually measured the Crandalls course at a brisk walk. Determined to be 425 meters longer than calculated by pace 'running'. That puts my pace more in the reasonable range - had been difficult to break 5min/km. Hope to get out to Wolf Den for some mapping this afternoon. [Brahmas]

Run - Trail (Wolf Den) 7:00 [2] 1.2 km (5:50 / km)

1:30pm - warm, sunny - opted to run back to car after finishing up mapping in Saptree Run section of Park [Brahmas]

Other (Saptree Run) 2:40:00 [1]

10:20am - Field checking in Saptree Run section of park.

Saturday Jul 1, 2000 #

Run - Trail (Gerry's Folly) 34:20 [4] 6.6 km (5:12 / km)

7:00 am - Another exploratory trail run on basemap, ran up trails on east side to large beaver swamp in NE corner, ran back. Most of these trails seem to be on the NETRA circuit - lots of mud and dirt bike tracks. [Brahmas]
