Long Sunday run lapping IP didn't go so well. Back to the usual just-before-lunch slot and I was pretty tired and started slowing down from an hour. Achilles and l. knee holding up until near the end as form started to go.

Silverknowes 5k Scottish road race champs. Nice evening for it. Had hoped to be clearly under 19 though so quite disappointed. Started off a bit too fast - although nothing like as too fast as those round me - was on schedule at 2km, just off schedule at 2.5km and ran the second half at 20 minute pace.

HR just didn't get to max - only briefly over 160, average for second half was 157. Probably mostly just a lack of "race pace" training which is scheduled to start soon-ish.

Lunchtime run from office over Salisbury Crags > FASIC to pick up reconditioned orthotics contemplating that my achilles haven't been too bad this last few days without orthotics, in these Asics Gel 1000s. Nice to get to AS at lunchtime.

Felt surprisingly good, especially considering 43miles/69km rolling week (enough for now I think). Martin's intervals, skipped first one as easing off for 5k this Friday then did 3'45, 3'43, 3'45, 3'45. HR to 157/159/161/163. Best yet this time around, although I'm still perturbed I can't get into the 3'3xs which I have done this decade at this weight. Maybe in a few weeks. Generally feeling less injured with outside of knees/ITBs having loosened off a little.
