Northumberland Coastal Run. 112th. I was worried about my achilles (to the point of carrying a jacket, phone and enough money for a taxi) but it simply hurt a bit too much rather than actually stopping me. I'll be lucky to run again for a few days however. A bit rainy but a good temperature with wind behind. I wore my racer trainers as they are best for my achilles tendons although I did miss the grip I would have had with trail shoes on some of the slippy bits.
Enjoyed the race and took advantage of this being a race where you are expressly allowed to take any route you like by running further left than anyone else I could see, sometimes into the shallow water, along both of the first two beaches, to try to cut the corner - which did seem to work both times (and as a bonus it's quite fun running through the edge of the waves). Generally kept it together reasonably well although I didn't have the strength to push more at the end (breathing always comfortable, I'm still limited by strength more than anything else).
5 mins slower than my 2013 time - my best (post-millennium) year, when I was 5kg lighter, so happy with time (if not my waistline).
