killer sleep. ate a lot yesterday after run. needed it. we eat so well these days because we very rarely go out to eat. just easier to hang at home with Fi.

still been eating ice cream (dreyers slow churn) every night... can't remember the last night i haven't. at this point, with the volume i'm putting in, I'm afraid i'd get too skinny if i didn't. I'm right where i want to be right now.

finally got my mtb back. fork was being serviced by cannondale. it was supposed to take 2 weeks. took almost 6!!! but they didn't charge me because it took so long. can't wait to rip on it today and a bunch before silver rush.
10 AM

Cycling-MTB 2:34:00 [3] 33.8 mi (13.2 mph) +2526ft

finally back on the mtb.. but not all good. for some reason the mechanic who rebuilt my bike last week added 3 spacers to my stem. didn't notice when i picked it up. my rear brake also barely worked.... not stoked.

rode down to waterton canyon, an out and back on the colorado trail, and then the short indian creek loop. still a lot of overgrown areas out there and didn't have much confidence descending with almost no rear brake.

dropped the bike to get everything fixed after ride. should have by tuesday. headling up to leadville early friday morning to pre-ride the SR50 course.

crashed last night.. shocker. long run with maggie today! stoked... we haven't done a proper long run together in almost 2 years. nuts.
8 AM

Running 4:15:00 [3] 27.6 mi (9:14 / mi) +4572ft 7:59 / mi
shoes: Hoka Challenger v2 (ORG)

killer long run with maggie. lair of the bear to mt falcon and back. solid climbing. let maggie lead all day which is great for both of us. keeps her from trying to keep up with me and holds me back. win win for sure.

nice easy effort all day. definitely a grind climbing back up mt falcon but got through it. so much fun running with maggie and she's so fit right now.

breakfast before: wholegrain toast with pb and a banana
during run: 1 Vfuel gel (100 cals), 1 b-line pouch (220 cals), and one flask of tropical roctane (125 cals). consistent energy all day. first time trying the b-line (http://store.feedthemachine.com/m-48-B-LINE.aspx). it was a nice change from normal gels and tasted great. i'll for sure add this to the mix. will probably work well in longer races.

up early. big ride.
5 AM

Cycling-Road 4:06:00 [3] 67.5 mi (16.5 mph) +6791ft

on it early again. love it. up high grade, city view, N turkey creek, and high drive to evergreen. 74 down to meyers gulch, S turkey creek, deer creek, home through chatfield. killer loop. plenty of hard steep climbing.

no cals before, just black coffee. no cals for first 3 hours and then just sipped on a bottle of skratch (80 cals). Probably didn't "need" it but it had me hammering home. these rides are working for sure.

late nights of work got pushed to next week. next week is going to be a shit show for me work wise... but all good.

boom. 145. must been the blizzard from DQ i had last night.
6 AM

Running 1:37:00 [3] 11.2 mi (8:40 / mi) +1994ft 7:25 / mi
shoes: Hoka Clifton v2 (RWB)

early, mellow cruise at green mountain. not trying to push the pace at all. trying a different approach as i get ready for silver rush and RRR and that's just to run pretty easy and not go ape shit on the descents since I won't be doing that in the races. just log a lot of mellow miles and no intensity running.

passed out last night. so good.

two late nights of work coming up. have to be onsite for upgrades at 9pm-10pm. not awesome... but minor in the big scheme of things. going to be going on lack of sleep because i need to get up early to run and ride around other work meetings.
12 PM

Cycling-Road 1:56:00 [3] 35.0 mi (18.1 mph) +3435ft

lunch ride up high grade. decided the to big ring the "deer creek to high grade" segment (10.6 miles, 2,700ft of climbing). felt better and better throughout the climb and ended up going 48:56 for the climb. my fastest time up climb by over 3 minutes which was when i went for last summer. way less effort today. held 267 watts for the climb.

so stoked with this. can't remember the last time i felt the this fit... also helps that i'm down close to 145. eating ice cream every night is working!
4 PM

Running 35:00 [3] 4.2 mi (8:20 / mi) +88ft 8:10 / mi
shoes: Hoka Clifton v2 (RWB)

family jog on the platte river path. nice and easy. nice that it was only in the 70s with a slight breeze. much cooler than it's been.

up early to ride. going to try to get out early on the bike as opposed to lunch the next couple of weeks. makes the schedule a bit easier.
5 AM

Cycling-Road 2:00:00 [3] 33.5 mi (16.7 mph) +2825ft

early rollout. on the road at 5:28... love it. quiet awesome morning and perfect, cool temps. deer creek out and back. legs are back and continually felt better throughout the ride.
12 PM

Running 1:15:00 [3] 9.0 mi (8:20 / mi) +1179ft 7:25 / mi
shoes: Hoka Challenger v2 (ORG)

midday run in the heat at south valley. mid 90s... luckily there was a breeze and i was able refill my simple hydration bottle (13oz) midway through. good suffering practice.

super fun fathers day. hung out at my mother in laws condo pool to beat the heat. drinking out in the sun took it to me a bit. kinda dehydrated today.
