Orienteering race 30:00 [3] 3.0 km (10:00 / km) +250m 7:04 / km
(injured) shoes: VJ Integrator 08

8. Nationaler Lukmanier H35 DNF
Tricky but very rough terrain which paid it's toll today...
after a sosoish start I stept into a stone hole on the way to #8. My lower right leg was half way stuck in the hole in but my body still moved forward. At first my shin hurt terribly and I was worried that it might be broken. I already saw myself waiting for a rescue helicopter because it was 400 altimeter above the next accessible road... However the pain got better after a minute and I could see that my leg had still the shape it should have (except for a strong swelling which almost immediately came apparent). After the first careful steps I realized that I probably just got a bad bruise on the outside of my right shin. I started to very carefully walk down to the finish, which took me 45'... I think I was very lucky that not more happened.

Orienteering race 49:30 [4] 4.1 km (12:04 / km) +220m 9:31 / km
shoes: VJ Integrator 08

7. Nationaler, Campra, H35 (7/31)
Very tricky and rocky terrain. Overall quite a good run. I lost 3-4 times 30-90" but no one came through without mistake.

Climbing 1:00:00 [0]

We stayed in Gstaad for the rest of the weekend (and enjoyed the pool and sauna in the hotel ;-)). Today we went climbing at the"Hornflue", very nice and "grippy" rock! The wather was also very nice, only the cold wind was a bit annoying.
I did 5c (Pappilon), 5c (No Seat), 5c+(?) 6a (TomSelect), 6a (Fleur), 6a+ (Sarina, but only toprope). Each one was 20-25m - I was really tired at the end!

Note

Salomon X-Adventure Gstaad, with Irene: Light Mixed, 1st place!
To our surprise we won this race. I don't think we were the strongest team but we harmonized very well and were lucky as well. I was towing her on all the uphills and we were also lucky that the first mixed team which finished ahead of us had taken a wrong control on the canoe section (1h penalty).

Show the Route (1MB)

Inlineskate race 17:00 [4] 5.3 km (18.7 kph) +60m
shoes: Rollerblade

Short but fast rollerblade section to start with. We started well but could not keep up with the fastest teams. Missed the train and were fighting in the wind a few meters behind it.

Bike 23:00 [4] 3.5 km (9.1 kph) +250m
shoes: Scott MC 20

After a fast transistion we had a fist short bike section, mostly uphill.

Running 38:42 [4] 4.7 km (8:14 / km) +350m 6:00 / km
shoes: Salomon 07

Next was a trekking section with a lot of uphill. Once on the top we could use our downhill running skills and put some distance between us and the next teams.

Various (canoing) 27:00 [4] 2.0 km (13:30 / km)

Canoe section. This is where we won the race. All the teams ahead of us (including two mixed teams) went to the wrong control. We realized it early enough (when we saw Yve and Daniela heading to the right one). While one mixed team (plus the four men team ahead of us) didn't realize that they had taken the wrong control we could pass the second team and take the lead.

Running race 30:00 [4] 5.3 km (5:40 / km) +50m 5:24 / km
shoes: Salomon 07

Second trekking section. This time includes a short 'rope activity' (tyrollean) traverse. Could keep up with Daniela and Yve for a short while but had to let them go on the uphill.

Bike 1:01:00 [3] 16.3 km (16.0 kph) +300m
shoes: Scott MC 20

The race finished with a longer bike section. Didn't see any other team. Quite a though downhill.

Note

Still very rainy in the Wallis so we decided to cut the weekend short and return home. In the afternoon we went to see "Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis" which I highly recommend!

Bike 1:10:00 [3] 17.0 km (14.6 kph) +500m
ahr:145 shoes: Scott MC 20

This was the "surprise weekend" with Irene. I intended to do the Saflischpass by bike with her plus some climbing or more biking. However I think it was the worst weekend this year and we ended up just staying at the hotel plus climbing and playing some pool billiard at the sports center in Fiesch. However I braved the rain and went for a short, wet ride with my bike. Fiesch - Niederwald - Fiesch.

Climbing 1:00:00 [0]

Climbing with Irene in the gym in Fiesch. Lots of short tough (?) routes.

Note

I was planning to run today but I feel tired and semi-sick. Irene is sick so maybe I got a portion of her viruses...?

Orienteering race 33:34 [4] *** 4.4 km (7:38 / km) +160m 6:27 / km
ahr:174 max:187 shoes: VJ Sarva 08

Hindelbanker Abend Lauf, Burgdorf-Lindfeld A - 2nd place
Evening-O close to home. First part in the forest, second part urban-o, third part score-o in a park. Nice and fun (except for the thorns in the first part ;-)). I had a good run except for on control in the forest (wrong route and got stuck in the thorns) and one control in the urban part (I did not realize that the trail was not going through).
