Trail running 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: North Face

2.5 miles on the trail behind the house, most of it with Carter, who behaved surprisingly well. (He must know that he is on our sh*t list for destroying our blanket yesterday.) + cooldown

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3] 6.6 km (10:36 / km)

Coming back from a brief trip to OK to visit the folks, felt good to be back in the woods, although the trip has made me fall even more out of shape. I ran the red course at Umstead South from my September 21 meet but skipped the last two controls. Pretty nice course.

Extreme-O, short course. Time and distance both (probably badly) estimated. Fun event. It occurred to me on the course that the event could maybe be divided into two races -- not a short and a long course, but an advanced and an intermediate one. Although I certainly wasn't mistake-free on my course, it did have a lot of kid-friendly protective features (e.g., catching features, small area covered by the race) that detracted somewhat from its aspiration to be an 'extreme' event.

Orienteering 1:50:03 [3] 5.9 mi (18:39 / mi)
shoes: O-RocII

A much cleaner run than Saturday's, with a couple of execution errors that were pretty deftly corrected en route. Still very slow physically.

Orienteering 1:52:21 [3] 8.5 km (13:13 / km)

Pretty terrible run. Really slow, and full of hesitations, bad executions, and mistakes. I'm grateful that three days after running it, on entering its description in my AP log now, I find that I have forgotten much of it. Or at least it's not worth the effort of trying to remember.

Orienteering 42:33 [3] 4.1 km (10:23 / km)
shoes: North Face

I ran an old brown course designed by Ken. Hanson in Umstead North, hoping to tune-up a bit for GNC. But it was pretty uninspiring and slow.

COK, Morrow Mt. SP, Red course. Fairly nice course, and great to be back out on a map in fairly open woods, even if I felt a bit sluggish. The slow pace helped me to be fairly solid with navigation, except for a really bad 8 minute error on one leg which involved running off of the map. I also made one pretty poor route choice, electing to go up and over Sugarloaf Mtn. instead of around it.

Trail running 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: North Face

Sluggish jog at CNF, after more than a week of sloth in the Caribbean. I found time to run on a treadmill for a few days of the trip, but returned home to the feeling that my pre-trip training was all for naught.
