The Crystal relay at Antenna Hill. This was first class stadium orienteering out on the wild rugged attack badger ripped plains of Laramie. (Well, I got that badger quote right out of the way in the beginning of the post, done for the next 20 entries.)
We watch the runners with the looking glasses, see racing, walking, cursing, noseblowing, heavy breathing. The wall (actually rather a mouse hill of 8 or 10 contours) brings the runners out of the stadium back to the grim reality of the finish.

My run starts with the usual high altitude pudding legs, but seemingly my feverish nervous self imploding two days ago (it will be conveyed later when I catch up with reporting from the Wyoming news front) brings out new energy. I move alright to #1 and #2, wrangle with the dropping whatever hawks while sailing down the wall, mess somewhat after crossing the aspen to #3. Well, one needs to have your daily dose on mistaking, at least a little.
I cruise quite nicely through the open stadium controls, always aware of being fish bowled from above. I discover, that I can actually run. So I do. Nobody knows that I sprinkled some secret animal extract of my granola (no details, I want to do keep racing clean and clear). I pass some great stone sculpture field (place #1 which people never visit) before sinking my teeth into the gap to the runner in front of me. I catch Jan Urban within two controls. I accelerate a few steps to impress him while passing. Old trick. I go ahead. I take to road and climb to the fat bouldero (too much stone sumption!).

Get to the meadow. Bang, dang, too high. Down their bouldero superiore and Jan punching. Run down, punch, run up. Catch him in the wall. He is doing a Landis, I realize (only the first part of it...). On top of the hill he gets illegal support by his own children. Yet I show them the elegance of Alpine Power (our team) and press forward for the loop on the flat. Wow, the legs move with me. Cool running.

I moved Alpine Power up two places in leg 4. A great race as usual, provided by the medicine man of this great event, chief Swampfox.

More new to come, once the next library meets my fingers with a keyboard. In the meantime, I keep sumping the sumptious racing.

I warm up, don't have much energy. Between the races I rest in the shade, sleep a little bit and have to run to wake me up afterwards. I should warm up more, but it seems redundant it if so hot.

Map practice with Ernst Linder on the Bisbee Hill map. We check out rock features, the famous aspen stands, the yellow and white mapping. We try some hard uphill sprints and end up gasping for air with the heads spinning.
