Orienteer (Pine Point) 36:00 [3] 3.0 mi (12:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics2

Ran on Andrea's new map of Pine Point. Awesome map, although not field checked yet and so some discrepancies..... so the White training course was a bit hard as a result, and we turned the Orange Course into a team control retrieval exercise.
Seekers: Ty, Max, Devon, Haaken, Thor, Mason, Ben, Drew, Robin.... and Thomas, who is well advanced of the rest.
Andrei and Andrea provided coaching support, Michael helped with course setting, Stephen and Vince being the other adults who helped where needed. So quite a crowd, and we learned of things we probably need to do better.
Allow for more time, set the course in advance, field check or keep the courses in areas that we're sure is what we think they are.
The kids were out SO long on the White course. We thought one of them might be lost (not to the point of calling parents, just to the point of doing some trail runs to find him.... but he was back before we were). Within ten minutes, all the rest came back, all pretty darn happy too.
I'm somewaht stunned at how much they want to orienteer. Thor begged his Mom to let him come (his older brother is a Seeker), and Matthew claims he'll do ANY orienteering because he just loves it. Max asked to let his friend Devon come along..... so we're getting the kids sucked into the sport (for now).

Then they all played soccer for a while, and the adults tried to figure out how to grow youth soccer in MN beyond what's going on now. For now, figuring out what works and doesn't and getting our training maps, making sure the kids bond and love to learn the social, technical, physical, and nature aspects is quite a bit.
Fun fun.

Run (River Road) 30:00 [3] 3.1 mi (9:41 / mi)
shoes: Asics Speedstar 6

Another short, late run.... weekends (and life) just seems to get busier and busier.
I've also been playing (wasting time) with my mapping tools; I've been told I'm like a person who just got on Facebook. Except Facebook is maybe a bit easier; I'm not sure how much progress I'm making but fortunately Andrea seems quite proficient and is my guide.
Seeker training tomorrow... I think perhaps we've reached critical mass because they seem to be recruiting on their own now too; we'll have 12 juniors if you include Robin... who claims to be the Tom Hanks (from "Big") of the Seekers.

After 1058, I think it's time to retire my other Asics. Starting out back again at 0 on a new bright pair.

Elliptical 35:00 [3]

my cold turned into bronchitis almost two weeks ago; doc last week said I should take it easy so it wouldn't turn into pneumonia. No running recommended. My lungs have often caused me problems.... so I'm taking her advice this time.. I'll wait until it doesn't hurt to breathe before running again.
