Finnish Ultralong championships - Tough journey!

As usually in mass start races, beginning was over speed... The first half of the 1th leg I didn't excatly know where we were and speed felt quite hard, in the middle of the leg I noticed excatly where we were and also felt like over speed was over... The next 30minutes went great, I orientered my own and took the advantages from other runners and many times near the control I was much better aware where the flag is than other runners. After 40minute of running I realized that there was only 5 of us in our group and that we are propaply leading the competition. I also started to feel that the speed which felt so easy a while ago wasn't so easy anymore. And after hour running I realized that I am not able to follow this 3 top guys...

Don't know what was the reason (too less drinking?), but my musles just couldn't keep that speed that long even if it first felt easy. From the 1h to 1.5h I manage to run with seeing range to guys (took couple of conrols better and in couple of controls they had to slow down, but I could just follow).
At beginning of our butterflies I was then alone and felt speed drop a lot, so I was afraid that soon there will come big group who will past me. After first butterfly I knew that propaply I will finnish to top ten, then at second butterfly Mikko caugth me and then we were walking and running coule of legs together. Then at the long leg in the end of the course we run a while 90degrees to wrong direction (maybe 90s mistake for me) and I noticed it sooner and got about minute cap to Mikko and was able to keep the 4th place to the end!

Competition was hard adn it is hard to say that how good my running form was (in the beginning speed felt quite easy, but then I got tired quite soon! Orienteering was ok and I also used it in those parts when we were running in a group. 4th place is my best place in the Finnish championships, but I really could be that pleased with my race (but not dissapointed either), because I was clearly weaker (at least on this day) than the best three. And because there were 3-4 really tough guys missing from the competition I can only say that competition was OK!

There is some job to be done :)
