Took the Donore LTADS gang on a bit of a tour on the trails in the park. Ended up passing a group of people celebrating the victory day for Russia, I think anyway, with all the flags of former Soviet nations and the Soviet flag flying

7th fastest parkrun yesterday too which is nice!

Nice to see lots of green ribbons on the startline this morning.

Started at a solid pace for the first km and then got a bit of a gap. Another sub 17 clocking though (with a sprint at the end!). Another poor measure of distance from the Garmin though.....

6th sub 17 parkrun this year.

Great that Waterstown parkrun are working with SeeChangeIRL this month to help raise awareness and break the stigma of mental health issues.

Wasn’t able to hold on until 5 so just headed for home. Challenge Cup Final tonight.

Nice to see big junior teams picked for EYOC and JWOC this year! Some experienced heads and some newer/new juniors! It’s a long time since Soria 2010!

Thursday evening in the park. Group were there tonight but the young lads all dropped off the pace after about 3km and I spent the rest of it all alone. They were running with a speaker listening to dance music....return of the Mack is much better left as it is!! Hard to beat a beautiful evening in the park!

Warm up chatting with Darren. Can’t remember the last time I ran an anchor leg in a relay. Usually I’m in the pack at the start so today will be almost certainly a solo run for a change.

Irish Orienteering Championships 2019 - Relay - Parkanaur Forest - 3rd Leg (2nd (+2:56), 4th overall (+4:01))

After the poor run in the middle distance I was on the CorkO 2nd team taking the anchor leg, can't remember when I last anchored a team.

Conrad lead us out solidly and came back 4:30 down, Cillin consolidated it and handed over to me 4:42 down on the lead and 1:20 behind the 3rd placed team in 5th place. I caught Billy (4th on course) at #2. Lost time being hesitant to #3 and then got caught in the green to #4 and had to just plough through. From then on I saw nobody on the course, knew there was a big gap ahead that I couldnt catch unless there were big big mistakes (since Kev had fresh legs after no long distance). Nice long leg across the map. Lost some time to #8 popping into the green where I thought the indistinct path was but it vanished pretty quick. Maybe +5sec dropped at #10 thinking the control was on the other earthwall. Tidy to the finish but nowhere you could really drop much.

Ran the 2nd fastest last leg (Kev was quicker) and closed the gap to the lead from 4:42 to 4:01 but had to settle for 4th overall. Solid team performance though which was nice and 3 consistent times. 2nd and 3rd swapped places infront of me so we finished 2:26 outside the medals.

Ribs still quite sore today from the fall yesterday with pressure or a deep breath/cough/sneeze

Cool down chats with Ruairi L. Mixed bag of a weekend. Plenty to improve on for the rest of the season, bit of fuel for the fire I guess! Need to come up with a plan/structure going forward.
