Dublin By Night #5 - The Curragh

Mass start was a good idea. Behind c.hill up the track to #1 and then he had the other forking heading west first. Heading to #2 I have Shane and Conall in tow and we were nip and tuck until coming back towards the central control of the butterfly where they both went too far north and i stopped and turned. From here on Shane was chasing me down. Hesitant heading to #17 but hit it bang on. Then to #20 I stopped at the hill too early, just messed up my distance judgement. Back across to #21 and Shane was on my shoulder. It put us both off and we never turned left after the green NE of the control and hit the road. Silly mistake to finish on.

Running (Grass) warm up/down 8:34 intensity: (1:07 @2) + (7:27 @3) 1.23 km (6:59 / km) +4m 6:53 / km
ahr:143 max:152

Short jog with Shane. It was fairly blustery out there but we did get to see a nice train coming to control 12

Slightly different route to the park today but the watch didn't catch it, we stayed along the trail by the river. Up in to the forest for the usual lap and bit and then back down into the park where we met Lucy so we jogged a few laps with her. She knows Jim O'D, Ailbhe Creedon and ToniIRL......small world! Mad the run a bit longer than usual but what else would you be doing for lunch!

Sure to say the wandering water was gushing today. Damp one but same loop as yesterday. Bumped into Lucy again in the park. Heading back to Dublin on Friday and looking forward to the NightO on the Curragh on Saturday night.

Same route as yesterday, GPS struggled to get locked on since I refuse to stand in the cold and wait!

Note

Flights book to get to and from Bergen for the sprint camp. Snow and hail in Sligo over night so could be a slippy lunch time run, good practice to not repeat this
12 PM

Running (Trails) 1:13:25 intensity: (7 @1) + (1:47 @2) + (12:02 @3) + (59:29 @4) 15.51 km (4:44 / km) +264m 4:22 / km
ahr:162 max:175 shoes: Asics Gel Noosa Tri-11 (Blue)

Lunch time run with Brian. Out along the river, half lap of the park, up Cairns Hill with an extra lap around the top loop, down past the racecourse, short hill loop and 2 laps of the park before trotting back again. Light dusting of snow in the forest and some falling during the run.

Light dusting on the "Hills above Glencar" as the poem goes.

Running (Trails) 1:06:54 intensity: (11 @1) + (55 @2) + (11:58 @3) + (53:50 @4) 12.3 km (5:26 / km) +363m 4:44 / km
ahr:163 max:174 shoes: Asics Gel Noosa Tri-11 (Blue)

Out the door and running so GPS didn't find where it was until the park but it still clocked the first 2.5km of the run. No Brian today as he was going swimming instead of coming doing some climbs. Did 2*Cairns Hill Climbing laps and then an over and back on the top of the hill before coming back along the river. Read the conditions wrong and ran in a thermal and jacket......t-shirt would've been plenty in it.

Forest is really nice and SligO have a map of it, it's actually white runnable forest on top, even the slopes on the north are pretty clean, only issue is its a really small area.
