10 AM

MTBO 49:34 [3] 7.67 km (6:28 / km)

Vic MTBO sprint champs at Canadian Regional Park. It seemed a bit longer that it should have for a sprint. I waited for some cars to pass near the finish and then came 4/5 by 2 seconds
2 PM

MTBO 1:37:13 [3] 15.41 km (6:19 / km)

Vic MTBO middle distance champs. I was a bit tired after the morning and decided to go slowly and carefully (and safely). It paid off and l came 2/5. The orange bike seemed OK after all (with new seat and Kmart rubber pedals) so will keep it. There was a proliferation of new orange bikes and helmets. It was a good day and I wish now l was staying for the dinner and tomorrow's race.

Run 37:38 [3] 5.4 km (6:58 / km)

Run around Blackburn lake and creeklands. It was a nice cool morning, ideal for running, but my knee was tweaky, my eyes watery and l felt a bit breathless. I think l am a bit worn down by the heat in Benalla over the past few days, as l had no air conditioner. However did they survive in the olden days (i.e. last century).

Swim 38:00 [3] 1.0 km (38:00 / km)

Swim in the Benalla pool.

Run 38:00 [3] 5.5 km (6:55 / km)

Run around Benalla lake and gardens on a warm morning. It's pretty dry up here.
I was thinking about some of the things l liked about the Pittwater carnival. I liked having 3 consecutive days in similar terrain so that you could learn and practice your skills.

Orienteering 31:00 [3] 3.12 km (9:56 / km)

Pittwater Dunes day 3. Finally l seemed to understand sand dune mapping and, for the first time ever, had a mistake free run. I am now looking forward to NZ.
