Walk 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)
(injured)

I'm going to count this as an hour's walk, although it took somewhat longer. I took my Benalla firend Peter up to Kangaroo Crossing and shadowed him walking around Course 4 (Women's C) from the Xmas 5-days. He didn't do too badly for a first effort. I enjoyed the walk and being in the bush. It is amazing how much easier it is to choose the best route when you are not in a hurry.

There was a lot of smoke settled in the Wangaratta valley but the air at Eldorado was fine. It was very hot and don't think I could have run even if I tried.

Swim 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)
(injured)

Swim in the Benalla pool after a big morning of gardening. A friend was there but neither of us realised it until we put our glasses on.

I didn't go to either the SS1 event at Baw Baw or the MTBO event, but have entered for SS2 next week at Mt Beckworth, an area I like, even if I have to walk.

Unfortunately, at the risk of boring you all, I may not be quite as ready for a running comeback as I had hoped, as my knee was swollen this morning following yesterday's run (which my head enjoyed immensely). The risk of re-occurance is high after aspiration and I probably need to either give up running or seek further advice. I have a referral to a surgeon so will use that in the next few weeks.

Run 43:52 [3] 5.9 km (7:26 / km)
(injured)

First run in a long time. It was a slow plod around Reef Hills (back in Benalla) and I didn't lift my feet very high. But I didn't stop and jogged up the hills and felt OK. So continues the recovery.

It has taken a long time to get to this point - but then again, as I learned during a visit to the doctors earlier this week, the baker's cyst that was removed was 4.5 x 2.5 x 1 cm, which was quite large, and it would have taken some time before the ligaments etc settled back to where they were supposed to be.

Walk 1:00:00 [2] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)
(injured)

Walk around Blackburn followed by a trip down the Peninsula. This included fish and chips and a swim in the sea. Very nice.

Note

Drove to Melbourne on the afternoon of my birthday. The trip took 5 1/2 hours instead of the usual 2 1/2. We could see the Epping fire developing approaching Melbourne . I looked it up on the CFA website and then in the Melway, only to discover it was likely to impact the freeway. Traffic was subsequently diverted down the highway, where it came to a halt and remained that way for 2 hours. We could see all tbe action as the fire developed, so l didn't mind. Sort of a busman's holiday.

Swim 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)
(injured)

Swim in the Benalla pool. It was very crowded as the local secondary school had its swimming carnival outdoorsl and there was aqua aerobics and hydropool aerobics, each with its own music, indoors. Yes, another notch in the downhill slide today.Fortunately 5 is my lucky number.
