Run 34:52 [3] 5.0 km (6:58 / km)

I did a small circuit at Reef Hills. This time with both knee and foot taped up. This seemed to do the trick and I plodded along OK.

Birthday yesterday was very low key. I am trying not to concede my age and will attempt W35 again this year. But only for the competition.

Swim 36:00 [3] 1.0 km (36:00 / km)

Quite a hot day in the NE and I felt a bit weary - probably due to working too hard last week. Or maybe it be the extra notch that went into the downhill slide today. Anyway, I went for a swim and my back and knee felt immeasurably better afterwards. Lazed around and ate cake for the rest of the day. Still W35.

Walk (Jog/walk) 56:00 [3] 6.22 km (9:00 / km)

Street O at Lillydale Lake on a very hot humid evening (car showing 35 degrees on the way there). It was also on a rather ordinary map with lots of incorrect and unmarked large features which served as demotivators because you'd see something and then not be able to find it on the map. Plus slightly misplaced controls. It was organised by a school so I can't complain. My knee hurt (again) and my feet were hot. Most people walked at least a fair proportion of it and there was a heat affected patient at the end. I stayed for a lovely BBQ.

It is fashion faux pax week. Yesterday I went to a presentation attended by a large female parliamentary representative who gave a speech and had photos taken wearing a skin tight miniskirt and platform stillettos, while every bulge was revealed. Today, on the train, was an otherwise nice looking girl wearing the tiniest shorts ever. I can't comment however because I got stuck in my dress this morning. The zip got stuck and then broke - leaving me trapped inside and almost feeling claustrophobic. I had to rip the dress to get it off. I need to go shopping.

Run 36:00 [3] 5.0 km (7:12 / km)

I ventured out from the Blackburn house for a jog at about 7.15pm - only to discover people I knew running around with maps as part of Geoff's Tuesday night series of scout events that are becoming increasingly popular with regular street orienteers. So I went down to the scout hall where the start was and was kindly given a map and headed off. Nearly all the regular runners were there!

It is the indestructable rubbish collection at Blackburn - which has turned into a huge recycling event. For several days there has been an endless stream of cars, trucks and trailers trawling the streets. I put out some larger items, including my old bike (which has been run over by Ian's horse float and then straightened out again) and my old downriver racing kayak. The bike went almost immediately to a cyclist who drew up and loaded in onto his car. I don't know where the kayak went but I hope it was to a good home. I felt slightly sad parting with the kayak - but it was huge and has been carted around from house to house for around 25 years. It cost me $100 then and hasn't been used for about 15 years. I've kept my slalom kayak so I can still go paddling.
