Swim 34:00 [2] 1.0 km (34:00 / km)
(injured)

A 3-hour O on top of the Kangaroo Gully event yesterday would have been too much for my ankle - so went back to Benalla last night and went for a swim this morning. Time is back to the usual time. There was only one other person in the pool so it was very peaceful and relaxing. I am a little anxious about my fitness going into the Aus champs - especially for the long events. Yesterday revealed a considerable loss of fitness since I sprained my ankle.

I spent yesterday evening moving sandbags and unloading the funiture - which was piled on top of each other on bricks. Hopefully there wont be another flood scare in the near future. Apparently my internet browsing of the river heights last weekend raised some interest. My neighbours now consider me the 'computer guru' (which, as you would know, is the complete oppposite of the truth) and I even got a phone call at work from the state army reserve commander asking where exactly had I found all this river height information. He wanted to give the web address to all his army reservists who were filling sandbags up near Echuca!

Run 33:30 [3] 5.0 km (6:42 / km)
(injured)

I went for a jog around the lake this afternoon, inspecting the flood damage. The long grass in the sprint map area is all flat and some logs have been moved. All the billabongs are full. The flood level can be seen on every wire mesh fence (e.g. tennis courts and swimming pool) as there is debris nicely suspended up to that level (it actually looked quite nice - almost as though it was an intentional landscape effect). The outdoor pool is full of brown muddy water. I had to detour around several large puddles. I am feeling quite unfit - but the ankle held out and at least I can run.

Orienteering 1:14:00 [3] 7.0 km (10:34 / km)
(injured)

Hip hip hooray
Orienteering was on today.
There was a Bendigo course setter
So the standard was (of course) much better.
I got there on time
Today - no speeding fine.
So many friendly faces
And thank God for ankle braces.
No 11 I stuffed
And on the hills I was puffed.
So I was near last
(Oh well, that is now past).
But the competition was thrilled
And around the results board they milled.
So many billy lids
(There was a space race for little kids).
A day in the sun
Thank you all - it was heaps of fun!!

(apologies - I think I'll keep my day job)

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]
(injured)

An hour's yoga at lunchtime. Due to a combination of a heavy workload and my sprained ankle I have been unable to do yoga for some weeks, but went at lunchtime today. I am fairly tense and found many of the moves difficult. The good bit was that my ankle was very seized up and many of the knots came out (not without pain) during the session. I'm going to do the SS orienteering tomorrow regardless - so this was good to loosen the ankle up a bit.

Walk 36:00 [2] 4.5 km (8:00 / km)
(injured)

Walk 59:10 [2] 6.0 km (9:52 / km)
(injured)

Yay! Was only a walk aournd Blackburn tonight - but at least I can now walk further than just around the block. Ankle felt fine the whole way although was a bit puffy at the end. Spring has sprung and there is quite a bit of blossom out. So all good.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

I really am a little over excitement and would quite like to resume my normally boring and mundane life. Time to start exercising again. Ankle is on the home straight to being repaired and might be OK for this weekend (but maybe not for the 3-hour). Might even try and run (well, jog) at street-O on Wed.

Yesterday I had afternoon tea with Madeleine Love (nee Seviour) - who was in the Aus team for WOC '85. Somehow no-one (not even me) thought to tell her about the event last weekend - so she missed attending. But she was so busy with the impending Benalla flood that she probably wouldn't have attended anyway.
