Walk 1:00:00 [2] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)

Mothers Day. I spent last night baking and icing cup cakes, and then put cream in them this morning so that they were butterfly cakes. Yum (even if I say so myself). This was my contribution to the day's activities that included the obligatory trip with my mother to my sister's house at Mornington for lunch. Exercise was insufficient but better than nothing - I walked briskly around the Belleura Hill area. It was a beautiful sunny day.

Run 1:00:00 [4] 9.0 km (6:40 / km)

Street O at Norton Park on a beautiful Autumn afternoon. I managed to run almost all of it - even all the way up the hill to the Police Academy - so felt pretty pleased. I've been on this course a number of times and this time I ran much further than I had previously.

Things of note:
- Scammel brought his 2 pet ferrets along (for the fox hunt).
- Bryan brought his ageing and slightly overweight pet dog along and then forced it to run the distance at his pace (heaven help any girlfriend of his - "Come on, hurry up!").
- Peter Dalwood and I (plus other people) took a short cut over a drain that looked (on a black and white map) to be out-of-bounds - but it was a darker grey than the surrounding area but there was no legend so cant really be sure. Anyway, it looked like crossable public land. And we got yelled at. I fessed up at the finish but no-one was interested.
- Received some more comment on Wed's course including "My score was wrong" and "we're still discussing the optimal route" (hopefully that was a positive).

Oh - forgot the Garmin so estimated that I ran about the same distance as on Tuesday.

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]

An hour's yoga at lunchtime. Very nice. Hopefully my excercise program will be back on track now. I find that my stress levels buld up considerably when I don't get enough exercise.

I forgot to mention that I went to kinder this morning as my 3 year old god daughter's 'special person' for a Mother's Day celebration. Life looks good at kinder (apart from the temperature in the playground - I was freezing but everyone else was OK).

Walk 45:00 [2] 4.5 km (10:00 / km)

I managed to escape from work mid afternoon (in lieu of lunchtime) for a walk. I went down to the MCG, along the Yarra developments to Fed Square and then back to work. Because 'I am from the country' (or so I claim) I haven't been along these developments before (or even to Fed Square before) so it was interesting.

Note
(rest day)

At fairly short notice and with limited time, I set the course for Street-O at Montmorency last night. The location and start location were pre-planned in the program - so no choice there. Vic S kindly put the controls out.

Main issues (summarised from the very active Complaints Department):
- too far from home (too long to get there)
- too hilly (iron the map next time).
- downhills and uphills too steep
- controls too far apart.
- No 12 on wrong pole (1 complaint from dubious complainant - not sure this was correct).
- not very good courses for C grade (40 mins) or slow walkers.
- too mauch traffic.
That's all!

My assessment of the evening was PrueD score 1 - everyone else score 0. In fact the course setter won - no-one completed the course (Bryan even missed 2 low pointers) so I was pleased. But perhaps I had not sufficiently considered the needs of the slower walkers and the C course participants.

There is always next time - unless, of course, my course was so bad that I will never be allowed to set another one (teeheee). Alas - I think this might not be the case and the jury's decision (at a very nice dinner afterwards at the RSL Club) determined that more practice was unfortunately needed.

Tonight's activities meant no running - but at least I've done a little bit of volunteeering (other than control collecting) to help the series.

Oh - and forgot to add further complaint:
"They are CONTROLS not CHECKPOINTS. It is the START/FINSH area not the HASH HOUSE". Don't know what made me say those things - maybe I went back to my rogaining origins in the heat of the moment.

Run 1:00:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:40 / km)

I have been really feeling the lack of exercise and have been a bit tense as a result. So I headed off mid afternoon down to the tan, around and back. A slow plod (as usual) but I am feeling much better now as a result.

Oh dear - another one of these - and a late night at work also.
