Run 49:00 [3] 6.06 km (8:05 / km)

Street O at Blackburn South. The rain cleared for the run but it was very humid and the course surprisingly hilly. I struggled a bit and, for a while, thought l had pulled something in my leg. I then went to the ARDF BBQ at Surrey Dive and there was an extended heavy downpour - good for the fires and gardens.

Run 38:38 [3] 5.4 km (7:09 / km)

Run around Benalla lake and gardens, prior to returning to Melbourne. It was pretty humid and my back was a bit sore - l have done a lot of heavy labouring lately, including hauling up my Benalla side fence yesterday. It is covered in ivy and vines, and had fallen down, but the neighbours don't want a new fence, despite owning two lively big dogs.

Run 54:58 [3] 7.0 km (7:51 / km)

I've been over at Bendigo for the last few days in the heat successfully constructing garden retaining walls, with friend Peter. Today we walked up to the aqueduct, ran around to Crusoe Res and then back home along the creek (ran up the full Lowe St hill), before driving back to Benalla. Looking forward to joining the Bendigo people for some activities soon, once l get a few things sorted.
Met my immediate neighbours today and they were surprisingly nice. They even have a rogaining son and grand daughter! So not such a bad place after all.

Run 38:25 [3] 5.4 km (7:07 / km)

Run around Benalla lake and gardens. I'm generally struggling a bit in the heat - its been in the low 40s here for the past couple of days, and l'm not looking forward to the next few.

Run 33:00 [3] 4.5 km (7:20 / km)

Feeling seriously tired today - combination of heat, poor sleep and too many commitments - but couldn't let a cooler morning go by without making use of it. Blackburn creeklands.
However, I was disappointed to see that Gardiner's creek has almost stopped flowing and is black, in stark contrast to several weeks ago. The EPA has blocked the main inflow creek as someone has released foam into it. So disappointing!

Run 44:17 [3] 6.0 km (7:23 / km)

Run around Beleura Hill area at Mornington, including up the hills (which are steep) followed by a dip in the pool and a beautiful fruit salad breakfast. This is the life! Down here for the last of the summer's family commitments.

Run 28:56 [3] 4.02 km (7:12 / km)

Came back from Bendigo yesterday with a massive headache and sore back - l suspected a combination of dehydration, hard work and poor sleep - but it was alleviated a bit with water. a rehydration salt powder and a good sleep.
I felt better this morning, especially with the cooler temperature, and ran around Blackburn, until the headache started to build again at 4k, so l called it a day.

Walk 1:10:00 [3] 6.3 km (11:07 / km)

Exploratory tour around the bush at Kangaroo Flat. I walked uphill until l found the aquaduct, which was flowing clear and fresh, and then followed it to Crusoe Reservoir then back via the Furness St exit. Lost the plot a bit where it crosses Crusoe Road. This would make a nice run. Thanks Jim.

Very very hot and humid today. I am over the renovating business, especially tile scrubbing in the heat. All was going well until a tree fell on the cabinet maker's car, scratching it and (so he says) denting it a little. Looks as though l am going to be popular with the body corporate!

Kangaroos in our garden last night and tonight!

Run 39:00 [3] 5.5 km (7:05 / km)

After a busy weekend with my relatives from Brisbane, who were down for my second cousin's wedding, and no exercise, l thought l should get going again.
This time through the bush, around the 'Flat', along the Bendigo Creek track and up to Crusoe Reservoir, before walking up the hill to 'home'.....Question to Bendigo readers (if there are any) - where is 'home'?

Confession time - l gave up looking for a house for me and bought an investment unit (at the lowest end of the market) and am attempting to refurbish it, before renting it out. I'm camping and working here all week (apart from shopping and the occasional run). Inspections welcome, but only if you can identify the correct location.

9 AM

Run 39:23 [3] 5.45 km (7:14 / km)

Blackburn lake and creeklands. Despite it being a warm day, it was surprisingly pleasant out this morning.

Wednesday Jan 9, 2019 #

Run 44:25 [3] 5.74 km (7:44 / km)

Street O in Balwyn. I felt OK and ran reasonably, although had to walk reading the map. I ran up 2 extra hills (and they were quite big) - once up s wrong dead end street and another through poor planning. Got my money's worth!

Tuesday Jan 8, 2019 #

Run 18:00 [3] 2.46 km (7:19 / km)

Started to run around Benalla lake but it was humid, my knee hurt and l felt tired.

Walk 25:00 [3] 2.5 km (10:00 / km)

Stretching/exercises 15:00 [3]

Availed myself of the free exercise machines around the lake.

Monday Jan 7, 2019 #

Run 38:16 [3] 5.4 km (7:05 / km)

Benalla lake and gardens. It was hot and l had problems with my knee and breathing, but did it - better than nothing. Now for more gardening!

Sunday Jan 6, 2019 #

Run 41:25 [3] 5.6 km (7:24 / km)

Left it too late in the heat and tummy a bit wonky.

Saturday Jan 5, 2019 #

Labouring 1:00:00 [3]

Another hour of heavy labouring claimed!

Friday Jan 4, 2019 #

Labouring 1:00:00 [3]

Heavy labouring in 43 degree heat. Going to claim at least one hour.

Wednesday Jan 2, 2019 #

Run 44:00 [3] 5.36 km (8:13 / km)

Street O at Deakin Uni. I find it hard to run in the evening and, again, had to walk up a couple of steep hills, but it was a nice night and a good turnout.
I finally finished my 2018 work yesterday, only 2 days late and after a big effort last week!
New Year's resolution - much the same as last year - keep up the running (3 or 4 times a week) and try and improve my national O rating. I maybe should do something about upper body strength this year also. Overall glad to still be here, in good health and participating!

Tuesday Jan 1, 2019 #

Walk 1:01:00 [3] 5.57 km (10:57 / km)

Street O at Royal Park using Maprun. I started off running but the first 3 controls wouldn't register - and l walked round in circles for ages at each control, trying to make something happen, while the whole field ran past. I lost a bit of interest after that, and my knee hurt, so l just walked.
