MTB 1:39:00 [3] 23.74 km (4:10 / km)

Ride around Reef Hills.

Friday Dec 30, 2016 #

Run 41:00 [3] 5.51 km (7:26 / km)

Run around Benalla lake and parklands in max humidity between torrential showers. Returned looking like a beetroot. I've been a bit lazy for the last few weeks, for various reasons including work travel, visitors, Christmas, sore back and other things, and have sadly put on a bit of weight.
Spent the past few days on a truncated road trip to Kosciuszko NP, travelling hundreds of kms but unfortunately not doing anything worthwhile once there. I'll have to go back for another go.

Sunday Dec 25, 2016 #

9 AM

Run 42:00 [3] 5.9 km (7:07 / km)

Merry Christmas to all my AP favourites!

I ran around the Beleura Hill area of Mornington, where l have been staying for Christmas. I left it late to go out as l didn't sleep well and subsequently it was very very hot.

Friday Dec 23, 2016 #

7 AM

Run 35:55 [3] 5.0 km (7:11 / km)

Run around Benalla lake and tracks before the day heated up. The visitors have now left and l am a little weary. I must have looked that way as an elderly male walker shouted 'the batteries are running down' as l passed. And they were.

Wednesday Dec 21, 2016 #

7 AM

Run 35:45 [3] 5.0 km (7:09 / km)

Run around Benalla lake and gardens. Trying to give a good example of health and fitness to the children staying at my house. The 10 year old girl said she'd like to come too, but then didn't have any runners - so maybe next visit. Knee a little tweaky.

Tuesday Dec 20, 2016 #

Swim 36:00 [3] 1.0 km (36:00 / km)

Swim in the Benalla pool while there was a big thunderstorm outside. I have three young children and their parents staying with me for a few days now, so have been busy preparing.

Monday Dec 19, 2016 #

8 AM

Run 39:35 [3] 5.5 km (7:12 / km)

Run around Benalla lake and parklands. Back is still a little stiff (possibly from the big dose of gardening l did yesterday) but loosened after a while.
It looks as though l am going to achieve my New Year resolution from last year - aiming to do around 3 or 4 runs (or orienteering events) a week. This was generally achieved with the exception of when l was sick, injured (such as this week) and when l went cross country skiing, although that probably counts as a running equivalent. Now to devise this year's goal....

Saturday Dec 17, 2016 #

12 PM

Run 45:00 [3] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)

Run around Wangaratta in the heat (27)) degrees with Peter. I was very slow and struggled. It was quite windy and l was affected by a big dose of hay fever following the run - most likely from the late blossoming rye grass pollen blowing about in the wind.

Friday Dec 16, 2016 #

Run 45:20 [3] 6.2 km (7:19 / km)

My back seems to have settled down as quickly as it came on, although l will need to be careful for a while. Ran very comfortably around Blackburn lake and creeklands today, in the warmth. A lot of heavy traffic in the area now, due to escalated tunnel works.
Missed street O last night due to Adelaide trip and am likely to miss the next few weeks also. Shame, as this was a good time to get the points up.

Wednesday Dec 14, 2016 #

Walk 40:00 [2] 3.6 km (11:07 / km)
(injured)

Walk around Blackburn trying to get back muscles to relax. Hung from swings also. Maybe some slight improvement. More work travel today - off to Adelaide tonight.

Tuesday Dec 13, 2016 #

Walk 58:00 [1] 4.0 km (14:30 / km)
(injured)

Geoff's orienteering at Yarran Dheran. Although l am still in considerable pain l decided to amble around and try and shake it out. Gorgeous area, but l thought l must be on a different map to everyone else as people kept appearing running downhill from the north, when there weren't any controls there. Back is a fraction better.

Monday Dec 12, 2016 #

Swim 36:00 [3] 1.0 km (36:00 / km)
(injured)

Swim at Aqanation in Ringwood. I woke up to an excruciatingly painful back and thought a swim and a stretch might help. Normally this would fix a sore back, but it didn't this time.

Stretching/exercises 30:00 [3]
(injured)

Stretch in the hot pool at Aquanation. I must have looked in pain because several ladies in the pool offered me their physiotherapy advice. But it didn't help.

Sunday Dec 11, 2016 #

Run 44:30 [3] 6.0 km (7:25 / km)

Run around Blackburn streets, creek and lake. Different route to the usual, with a few hills. Still feeling tired from the week away. I love travelling, but would prefer if it was exercise based and didn't include the work bit. The Christmas socialising thing is also nice but meant l didn't get any exercise yesterday.

Thursday Dec 8, 2016 #

Run 39:53 [3] 5.8 km (6:53 / km)

Run from hotel in Hobart, up to Botanical Gardens and back past Govt House. I feel so much better after a run. Didn't have time for a run in Canberra and Sydney due to hectic meeting and flight schedule. Finally slept fairly well last night.

Sunday Dec 4, 2016 #

7 AM

Run 45:47 [3] 6.3 km (7:16 / km)

Run around Blackburn streets, lake and creeklands. Felt reasonably good. The bush had a lovely scent to it due to the warmish weather. I really like the flocks of noisy orange and green parrots there, but someone suggested recently that they may not be native.
I've got a big work week coming up - visiting Canberra, Sydney and Hobart. I'm not sure l'm going to get much exercise.

Saturday Dec 3, 2016 #

Orienteering (Trail O) 30:00 [1] 0.5 km (1:00:00 / km)

Bayside Christmas party in Mont Albert. As well as eating, the activities included an introduction to trail O at Surrey Dive. We went en masse. While l appreciated the effort that went into preparing the activity and the company was good, it was really not my thing. I prefer exercise. The rest of the party was good and well attended. We farewelled John as president and welcomed in Dave Knight. When l got home, my legs were tired from standing around too much.

Friday Dec 2, 2016 #

9 AM

Run 36:15 [3] 5.0 km (7:15 / km)

Run around Blackburn creeklands and streets. Knee still a little tweaky.

Note

I went to visit Kevin Maloney at his home today. I showed him the weekend's maps and he enjoyed looking at the courses. He is now most unwell and may commence palliative care soon. He really appreciated my visit and didn't want me to leave. If anyone else has time available, it would be great if they could visit him too.
