Tired today - but had a go. Blackburn parklands wander. Body wasn't really up to it and gave up early.

Run around Blackburn lake and creeklands. Felt good today and went as fast as l could, but no improvement on time. I think 4 runs a week are about my max at the moment.
6 PM

MTBO 1:21:00 [3] 13.72 km (5:54 / km)

MTBO at Lysterfield Lake. It was the orange bike's maiden voyage and l loved the 29 inch tyres and suspension. I could also ride up everything, when previously l couldn't ride up anything. My seat was a bit high, which made the single track awkward. But I'll get there. Unfortunately it wasn't very good at keeping time and l was 6 minutes late.

Street O at Gardiner's Bend, just after a heavy downpour. My head, heart and legs were not in it and l walked most of it, especially the steeper section, where l found myself ambling along with the over 70s PWs. Jogged the downhills.

Pretty hot day in Benalla and l ran around the lake and environs, circumnavigating the invasion day ceremonies. Felt pretty good today. It was peak hour around the lake. Yay - finally broke 7 min ks - hard to do since knee troubles.

Street O training run at Greythorn. I was late after a big night out at the tennis (front row seats courtesy of Medibank) and staying at my sister's place. It was raining heavily and hilly so l alternated jogging/walking. Better than nothing, l suppose.
Got a small proportion of my Medibank contributions back last night.

I'm working in keeping those 5 little green bars on my graph. Went out this morning, after a heavy shower of rain, around Blackburn lake and creeklands. It was nice to see the creek flowing and looking relatively clean.

Street O at Camelot Rise. I tried a bit harder than usual tonight and picked a good route, with the exception of 3 controls that l did in the wrong order and which meant running up a hill twice. Never mind - a nice evening otherwise.
BTW - l hope my audience has observed the fact that l've run 5 times this week!

Outa bed again and around Blackburn Lake and creeklands. I struggled for the first k, trying to sleep and run, but was fine and sped up thereafter. So far so good on my fitness plan.

Run around Benalla Lake. I didn't sleep well and was tired, then left running too late and it was a bit too warm. Walked the last bit (not timed).

Back to Benalla this weekend. Ran around Wangaratta, followed by a bike ride and coffee overlooking the river. Lovely day for it. This is the life!

Ride around Wang on my old MTBO bike that has been relocated to Benalla.. Explored some bush tracks near the river.

Morning run around Blackburn creek lands in light drizzle. Went as fast as l could but it was slow.
My gym attending work colleagues expressed concern about me running alone around the lake in the early morning and were relieved when l turned up at 09:10 yesterday. But l told them that a no show at 09:00 was a little early to call police S&R.
7 PM

Walk/jog (Street O) 49:00 [3] 6.0 km (8:10 / km)

Street O at Zerbes Reserve. It was a pretty popular event as many people chose to come tonight rather than go last night in the heat. My knee absolutely did not like running twice in one day and l hobbled around, finishing just before a downpour.
My 4-day week was approved today, so hopefully l'll now get to more O events.

Out of bed and around Blackburn Lake and creeklands. Slow start but faster towards the end. The bush smelt quite delicious after the shower of rain last night.

It was pretty warm today and l was having visitors, so walked in the the evening around Blackburn Lake area, admiring the bushlke gardens.

Street O training run at Glen Waverley. I got my new bike yesterday. It required a bit if adjustment to get it right, but hopefully is O K now. I was worried it was too big, but hopefully that is not the case. Trek Superfly 5 - bright orange.

I am trying to get into a habit of exercising earlier in the day as my legs seem heavier in the evening and my knee seems to swell a bit after a day sitting and then hurts running. Day 1 of shorter more frequent runs. It's going to be hard!
Of course this was helped today by the fact l don't have to work as l am getting my new bike. WOOHOO. I have also commenced negotiations regarding a 4 day week. So far the signs are positive.

Street O at Jacksons Court (Doncaster, not Blackburn North as advertised). I jogged half way but knee was really sore and weak on the up hills so l walked.
I finished the final draft version of the new State emergency response plan today so am feeling pleased with myself.

Geoff's scout adventure O event at Tally Ho. Great complex map but rogaine style controls (not always on mapped features) and 'original' control descriptions. I had a few problems finding several that weren't quite right. I might be overdoing it a bit - knee was quite sore jogging so l resorted to walking.

Back to work today and went for a walk around Blackburn after work (and after a large dose of energy giving chocolate). However evenings are no good for me as l am too tired to even walk. I'll need to try and get into a morning routine - with the exception of street O days. New year's reso - shorter more frequent runs!

Last day of my holiday and last early morning run around the lake and gardens of Benalla. I struggled a bit but kept going - although slow. Left thigh is a bit weak following big bike accident and l might need some remedial work. I am not looking forward to going back to work. Bring on retirement!

After a restless nights sleep l got up and staggered around the Benalla lake before the day warmed up. Legs were the running equivalent of the Aldi bike - but at least l tried.. There were about 8 campervans by the lake - it seems to be becoming a popular spot, even though l am sure it is a no camping area.

Bike ride along the Ovens River bike trail between Myrtleford and Porepunkah. It was only 33 degrees today and afterwards we sat in the river. The Aldi bike seat is really uncomfortable.
