I made the rare appearance at Monday street-O tonight at Upway. This was despite my knee being a bit awollen from yesteday - so l couldn't do anything but walk. The course was VERY hilly and in a very pretty area. Unfortunately l couldn't help noticing how fire prone the area was, with many houses covered in bark and leaf litter. Fire restrictions are not yet on and there was a distinct smell of smoke in the air from burning off - a bit late in the year to be doing it, l think (although given the date, it couldn't be much later). I am back at work this week.

Run at Reef Hills. I started slowly but finished well. I ran up all the hills.
Today is cooler than yesterday, although very windy with quite unstable conditions. The fire danger today is lower than yesterday, but l think conditions today could result in fires being more uncontrollable. My new Fire Ready App (comes from my office, so l thought l had better download it) is certainly beeping a lot today. I cleared the house gutters after the run.

Hot day in the NE. Today is the Benalla triathlon and l successfully timed my swim to avoid triathletes doing their morning training or pre-event warmups. I am swimming a bit more enthusiastically nowdays as knee comes good. I am timing my comeback to orienteering to March.

Boxing day run from my sister's house around the beach paths and lanes of Mornington. Lots of agapanthas out that looked nice, even if they are weeds. This slow pace appears to be new norm.

Run around Blackburn. A bit stop start as l am rather overweight (too much Christmas cheer) and very unfit. But maybe run/walk is what l need at the moment. Knee is gradually coming good.

I ran my Street O event at Blackburn South. I was in a mad panic to get the controls out in time as l was facilitating an exercise in the city up until 3:30. Anyway, it all went to plan and no one died, even though a few looked as though they might on their return. I was pleased the A course had to make some route choices. Several clubs had large but separate BBQs afterwards - a bit odd when we could have had one big BBQ.

Run at Reef Hills. I ran up all the hills and nothing hurt, although my patella still slips a bit. It was very hot but lovely to be in the bush with millions of very noisy cicadas.

Swim in the Benalla pool. Not only do we like a lane to ourselves in Benalla - but we also like to have the area wave free - meaning no-one in the adjoining lanes. Today was good. Knee is feeling a bit better - a few clicks and clunks occurred in the past week.

Saturday morning O training at Bayswater North. I was one of only about 6 people there - possibly because the instructions were so hard to find on the net. I expected it to be boganville but there was a surprising number of small bushy parks and nice gardens. lt was a glorious morning. Knee still not right - still experimenting with shoe combinations.

Street O at Camelot Rise. I was as slow as wet wig (funny expression) and it hurt - but l am calling it a run. Highlight was finding one of those ridiculous Ab Doer Ttwister machines they advertise on TV on the side of road . Peter wants one and l'm glad he hasn't wasted any money buying one. This one is now in the back of my car and will do just fine..
