Walk/jog 50:00 [3] 5.63 km (8:53 / km)

Street O training run on the very hilly Loughnans Hill map, starting at the Michael Hubbard Reserve. I made 3 errors in the first km, but the resultant run was very scenic (shame l didn't get many controls) and extremely hilly. I ran for as far as l could, up all the hills for at least the first 30 minutes. Gorgeous day and l am now carting 3 cubic metres of mulch onto the garden

Walk/jog 48:00 [3] 5.7 km (8:25 / km)

Street O at Blackburn South. It was windy and humid. I felt like a lump of lead but picked a relatively good course so was quite pleased.

7 AM

Run 1:04:00 [3] 8.0 km (8:00 / km)

Still feeling somewhat seized up from yesterday, I got out this morning early to try and get some kms in for this weekend. Jogged very slowly around Blackburn. Terribly slow - but kept moving.
Knee wasn't quite right (feels a bit out). Warmed up about 4 kms into the run (that's probably the amount of warmup I should have done yesterday), then warmed down around 7 kms.

Run 26:34 [3] 3.0 km (8:51 / km)

Sprint into Spring at Deakin Uni. I haven't run on this map before and found it terribly confusing. Not one of my better efforts.
Lessons learnt:
- more warm up required - I got very lactic very quickly
- stay out of the mess of small lanes and alleys - I should have relocated out to the main tracks for almost every route choice but instead floundered around in the small stuff
- learn about different layers - more confusion.
I don't understand how anyone who attends this uni ever makes it to class!

Walk/jog 1:00:00 [3] 6.6 km (9:05 / km)

Street O at Ferntree Gully. The map had 10m contours and was very steep. The east part, around the quarry area was quite intricate, with complicated stairways and paths, and could potentiakky make a good sprint area. Other parts had a lot of trees and were pretty. My wounds are healing but l still have a lump on my chin. Luckily you can't really see it.

Run 48:10 [3] 6.5 km (7:25 / km)

Jog around the Benalla Lake and environs, with a detour to look at the roses, for which Benalla is famous.. My injuries are improving. The facial wounds have almost cleared apart from a bruise and lump in my chin. The large leg bruises now show every colour of the colour spectrum. The main issue is the knee graze that re-opens through wearing pants of any sort, which happened again today, unfortunately.

Walk/jog 55:30 [3] 6.4 km (8:40 / km)

Street O at Blackburn Lake. It was home territory, so l had to go. I did a Cliffy shuffle - on the alert for trip hazards. Face is much improved although chin still has a tender lump on it and cut. Bruises are coming out and knee improving, although is still raw. No structural damage, thank heavens.

Note

Aus MTBO long champs. Being a bit bruised and battered, l decided l would best best suited to finish duties - which turned out to be a very pleasant option.

MTBO 31:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:10 / km)

Aus MTBO sprint champs along the Torquay foreshore. I was a bit slow but OK.

MTBO 45:00 [3] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)
(injured)

Aus MTBO middle distance champs. I was happy because it was pretty technical. About midway a stick got stuck in my front wheel and l went over the handlebars and landed on my face. Cut chin and lips (lots of blood), regrazed knee from last weekend fairly badly, got big bruises on thighs and a sore jaw. Broke mapboard in half. Felt pretty sorry for myself and walked back to the first aid van. DNF. Not riding tomorrow.

Wednesday Nov 4, 2015 #

Walk 1:07:00 [3] 6.7 km (10:00 / km)

Street O at Heathmont. It was very humid and l just walked. Tomorrow is a big day - Ian and Linda (from China) are getting married!

Tuesday Nov 3, 2015 #

Run 28:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:00 / km)

Run at Reef Hills which came to an abrupt halt when l tripped over a rock and fell flat on my face, sustaining torn pants and gravel rash on one knee and both hands. Not happy! I walked back to the car.

Swim 37:00 [3] 1.0 km (37:00 / km)

Slow swim in the Benalla pool. The weather here is very warm and humid, especially after yesterday's huge electrical storm. I spent yesterday afternoon searching for a neighbour's lost labrador which ran away in the storm. It was found, fortunately.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3] 6.78 km (11:48 / km)

AWOC annual club championships at Magenta Mine Chiltern on a very humid day. I messed up #1 as usual but was probably a bit off on all controls. I could hardly run due to the warm humid conditions. Event was followed by a communal lunch to celebrate the club's 40th birthday.
