Orienteering 1:01:00 [3] 3.0 km (20:20 / km)

SS orienteering at Mt Alexander - a map with almost unlimited possibilities. As l said - l am going to be stuck on course 4 for a while. It was steep and rocky but l was fine until 7-8 when l got distracted by a large crowd heading slightly off course to the direction l thought l should go - but l got swept along regardless for some distance and then had to retrace my steps and start the leg again. Shame. Distance is a guess as garmin goes flat after about 30 mins - l think it is time for a new one.
I drove over from Benalla - cross country on map memory at some speed and l think it was longer than travelling the main roads. I passed sone fantastic private granite areas in Baynton.We haven't mapped much private land in Victoria - unlike other states.

Run around Reef Hills, on a hilly track. It was a pretty dark gloomy day and it took me a while to get going.

Walk from the city to Camberwell. It was a lovely evening. I think l am getting a bit fitter. The weekend will be a good test. I have dropped down to course 4 and have set myself the goal of winning this 3 times before returning to course 3. No wins on the record so far.

Banyule Flats enduro. Friend Peter from Benalla came too and wanted me to go with him so he could practice navigating. It was not very harmonious and we finished early.

Walk from the city to Camberwell after work.
Passed tonight's street O event at Mont Albert, while travelling home on the train, and saw a few competitors. I haven't been on a Wednesday night for a while . Now to make cupcakes for a colleague's birthday tomorrow.

Orienteering 56:05 [3] 5.0 km (11:13 / km)

State series event at Belltopper Hill on a FREEEZZZING day. I conceded defeat and dropped a grade to course 4. It was a good idea as I got a much needed confidence boost. I was basically clear the whole way, with only one lapse in confidence between 3 and 4, when the ground didn't appear to match the map and I didn't want to trust the compass. It was unfortunate as I lost a little bit of time. I also had a problem with runny eyes and nose in the cold wind.

Walk from the city to Camberwell. I was cold for the first kilometer and then warmed up. Walking home has the advantage that l can look in all the groovy shops on Bridge Rd and work out how to decorate my recently renovated house.
