Run around Blackburn lake and creeklands. I went a bit later than usual and it seemed to be peak hour. One particular demographic out and about were groups of elderly people walking and riding bikes. It was quite warm, but not as warm as it is going to be on Wed evening for the street-O championships.

Run around Blackburn, including a few hills. Not feeling that great still. Passed a middle aged man riding a penny farthing bike.

Street O selection race at Blackburn lake. 40th anniversary of the first street O, organised by T. Cosy (who also organised today's event). It was pretty warm, possibly low 30s. I didn't feel like running again and walked some of the hills. I had almost given up when l saw Debbie, my main competitor, and figured she had just a little bit further to go than me. So l sped up and got selected. But it wasn't one of my better efforts.
The ARDF people came back to my house to christen my new BBQ and eat the coconut and blueberry cake l made. Great to have the company. It was still very warm at 11pm when they left .

Very slow shuffle around Blackburn lake and creeklands, getting my daily dose of bush. My legs (quads) are still quite sore from the weekend's hills.

Orienteering 1:29:00 [3] 7.15 km (12:27 / km)

BendiGo Today day 2 course B hagaby. I only just made the 0800 start, feeling still half asleep. Did the first loop well and came in for the changeover close to Blake and Jayne. Hung onto them for a few more controls until l had difficulty with #12, which was the first big hill and l was too low on the gully, Then lost motivation a bit and slowed down for the next big hill. Caught up to Stuart and passed him towards the end. Pretty pleased to finish given there were so many DNFs and MPs. The training is starting to pay off, but l need to do more big hills so that l am not psyched out when l see them on the map. Took about an hour to extract the prickles from my socks afterwards. Thanks Jim - great event (as usual).

BendiGo ToDay course B sprint at Mt Tarrengower near Malden. Great course, set by Jim, in amongst the rocks. I was clean except for 10-11, when l had a burst of confidence and went too low on a bad bearing.
Great way to spend my birthday. The highlight was then a fabulous batch of mulberry (l think) and blueberry muffins made by Jools.

Run around Blackburn lake and creeklands on a nice coolish morning. Still not feeling great, but l am getting marginally faster on this route.

Street O selection race at Canterbury Trails. I didn't feel like it : l ate too much today and got a stitch midway, my knee hurt and it was hot. That's what happens when you sit at a desk all day. Don't think l got selected

The car read 38 degrees at 9pm last night and my house thermometer read 32 degrees when l got up. Nevertheless, l thought of those Bendigo park runners who wouldn't be giving up and jogged around the lake. No detours, single tracks or long cuts. Straight round. It was a little bit cooler than the house (only just) and quite humid. No 'mad' comments today. Aircon part is finally ordered - its only taken them a week!

Back up in Benalla and ran around the lake (short run). Pretty hot here overnight and a couple of people l passed thought l was mad (probably true). Because l have no aircon at home, l've been working in the library, where it is nice and cool.

Run around Blackburn. Didn't really feel that good, probably because l ate too much this afternoon and wore too many clothes. So cut it short.

Pretty humid day and l had a late night so didn't feel like running. Went down and inspected the rail works which are due to open tomorrow. There were lots of onlookers 'supervising' the works - Sunday arvo entertainment! Can't say l'll be sorry to see the end of the trucks going by, the all night noise and the midnight helicopters.

Run around Blackburn and creeklands, before the day heated up. I went a fair bit faster and incorporated a few more hills than usual. Time is faster than usual, which is good considering the additional hills. I think my fitness is gradually improving. My knee previously didn't like hills but is also gradually improving.

Run around Blackburn lake and creeklands, following a slightly different route to normal. Ran without socks today as shoes are a little cosy, but got a small blister. Quite a few other runners out today, including a few parents making their children run before school. I'm pretty busy this week writing up the report from my travels.

Street O at Birralee (Doncaster). Pretty tricky course to find the best route for course C - nearly every time l thought there was a downhill run, it turned out to be an uphill. I think the course setter put too much thought into it. I was happy in general with my running and jogged most of the hills.
