Orienteering race 41:44 [4] *** 4.1 km (10:11 / km) +100m 9:04 / km
spiked:13/13c

Buffalo Middle distance race at Sprague Brook Park. Almost perfect race, hit all controls right on, except 50m off at 10, but only had to run full speed towards the control. What I am behind today is only running speed. Nice open forest. Most controls were visible at a distance.

Orienteering race 17:01 [4] ** 2.4 km (7:05 / km) +30m 6:40 / km
spiked:11/14c

Buffalo Sprint race at Sprague Brook Park. Big mistake, run direct from 10 to 12, and had to go back to 11 then 12 again, lost 1min. also mistake on 9 (poor direction from 8) and a small hesitation on 4. Should have been 1.5min faster at least with clean run.

Walk 4:00:00 [3] 14.0 km (17:09 / km)

Hiked from Adirondack Mountain Club Loj to Avalanche Lake. Total 4h30min, with about 30min rest and lunch at Avalanche lake. Again tough rocky trail although not as steep as Ampersand. Gorgeous view and cliffs at the lake. most of the trail otherwise was in the forest. Legs and feet quite tired at the end.

Walk 1:20:00 [3] 4.3 km (18:36 / km) +591m 11:02 / km

Hiked up Ampersand mountain in Adirondack Park, near Tupper Lake. Tough steep and rocky trail to the summit. The view was worth it! Had lunch at the top.

Walk 1:05:00 [3] 4.3 km (15:07 / km) +591m 8:58 / km

Return trip down Ampersand mountain. It is not much easier to walk down! Tough on the knees.

Orienteering race 1:05:36 [4] **** 5.7 km (11:31 / km)
spiked:10/12c

USA Classic Champs, day 2. Much better race today, but still missed two controls, but with much less than yesterday. #5 must have passed just south without seeing the flag, turned north up to a trail and went back and saw the control immediately, 1.5-2min. #11 run on wrong trail, parallel the one I should have been on, turned towards the control and was in the wrong place, took ~2 min to figure it out. mistake probably due to lack of concentration due to tiredness. Also looked really easy on the map! Stupid!
