Skiing Classic race 2:08:36 [5] ** 12.5 km (10:17 / km) +430m 8:47 / km
spiked:11/11c

Long distance ski-O at Balsam resort, NH. Course 12.5km straight line, but shortest skiable distance listed as 21.8km and I probably did a little more than that, plus some extra climb on top of the advertised 430m. Tough race, I was very tired in the end with nothing left in the tank. Nice conditions again and some beautiful trails.

Skiing Classic race (Ski-orienteering) 1:03:18 [5] ** 5.3 km (11:57 / km) +270m 9:31 / km
spiked:10/10c

Ski-Orienteering at Balsam resort, NH. New England ski-o championships. Very nice course in fantastic trail grooming and lots of snow. A fun course but very tough climbs.

Skiing Classic race (ski-orienteering) 30:00 [4]

Sprint ski-o at Balsam. Fun event on a field. Very short fast course. Tried it twice, probably a lot faster second time, when I knew a few of the shortcuts. :)

Running 1:41:00 [4] *

Running O-group training. It was snowing a lot so footing was a bit slippery.
Warm-up run, then a ~2.5km street-O where we had to find "controls" and recognize what feature was in the ring.
Short ~1km route choice run.
5x250m sprints over the footbridge at Woodfroffe HS with 30s rest in between.
Another street-O, maybe 2.5km.
Maze run in the snow, with jumps :)
Warm-down 4 laps around the block at the parking.

Orienteering (Ski-orienteering) 30:00 [1] *

I had 16 people come and try Night-Ski-O at Mlacak Centre in Kanata on a very cold night, -17C. Of those a half dozen were Kanata Nordic skiers new to orienteering. The event went very well, except the cold made it hard on some skiers. I'm counting only 30min training for setting out and taking down the flags. Thank you to Adrian for helping and doing most of the trail grooming last Friday. I think Robbie and Jeff will post the maps with their GPS routes.
Adrian and I started hanging flags at 6pm. Start was around 7:15pm. I had picked up all controls and left for home at 8:30, so 2.5h for a whole event!

Orienteering (ski-orienteering) 45:00 [3] **

Last map corrections for tomorrow night's ski-O at Mlacak. Trail grooming and snow conditions are great. Did one loop at almost full speed in 9:30min. Of course I have the advantage of knowing the map and doing it in daylight. Still I expect Robbie to do similar time in the dark.
