Running warm up/down 30:00 [1]

Orienteering race 1:53:25 [3] 9.46 km (11:59 / km) +204m 10:49 / km

O-fest long at La Pâche. this race was interesting/painful... I messed up the first control, I cut up from the open area too early and then once on the slope didn't go far enough along it, ending up going back a forth a bit until I finally figured it out. at control 2 I met up with Wil, and ran with him for controls 3 and 4 before splitting up. went straight on 5, the forest was very thick. on 8 I went around the hill to the control to avoid the climb. 9 was just trail running, drank like three cups of water here.

control 11... after this control It was not fun. I was almost at the control just about to round the hill right in front of it when I bash my right big toe on a fallen log. I tried to keep running but it started to really hurt making me have to stop and hobble/walk to the control. I looked at my map an realized I was fairly far away from the finish so I decided I might as well get my moneys worth and finish the course.
I hobbled my way to 12. (I had actually gotten into the lead on course 7 at this control) I gave up on hobbling and just walked, trying not to bash my toe into anything else. I very slowly made my way toward 13 making friends with the mosquitos, but made a mistake near the control which was frustrating. the rest of the course was clean but was at a snails pace. the toe started to ease up a bit for the last few. I managed to do a pathetic jog thing into the finish.

once finished I checked it out, it was all in one piece but it was swollen so I iced it. I can still bend it, which is good, but is sore in the area above the nail and before the knuckle half way around the toe. I don't think its broken but will definitely not run on it for a while.

Running warm up/down 40:00 [2]

Orienteering race 41:28 [4] 4.7 km (8:49 / km) +70m 8:13 / km

O-fest middle at March Highlands. I had a good race with really only 2 smallish mistakes. the course was nice, getting a bit of all the terrain types on the map.
the first 5 controls were in the nice open woods so I really tried to push the speed. I hit all the controls right on except 4, which I ended up west of due to not looking at the compass enough.
on control 7 I ran passed it a bit but didn't lose to much time. hit the 4 controls on the technical hill part right on. for the long route choice to 12 I decided to go the more direct route instead of going the trail around. don't think this was as fast as the trail route even with it being quite a bit longer. though the strait route had some fairly green sections to run through.
made another mistake on 14 in the blandish area. I wasn't carful enough going to the control from the trail and ended doing a fairly large hook. the last two controls were strait forward and I hit the right on.
overall i'm happy with my race, and I ended up finishing first on course 7.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Orienteering 17:37 [4] 3.58 km (4:55 / km) +2m 4:54 / km

O-fest sprint at Tunney's Pasture. this map was fairly simple with not many buildings on it but the controls were hidden in every nook and cranny possible making reading the control description a must. I didn't fall for any of the course setters tricks and pulled off a very clean race. as for the running, the intense scorching heat made pushing the speed difficult especially for the last 6 simple controls in the grassy area.

OOC running training. for warm-up we went to the grass triangle and ran around the inside of it for 9min increasing the speed every 3 min. then we went to the park along the bike path and ran the loop for the main exercise. The main exercise was 1.4km, 30sec rest, 490m, 30sec rest, and 900m. then we went to the forest at Frank Ryan and alternated between following the north lines and route choice to controls.
