trail run warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Warm up felt unnecessary, was sweating just by standing around in this heat, jogged over to the start. Then went to pick up my tape at the start after the race.

orienteering 1:30:11 [3] *** 8.6 km (10:29 / km) +314m 8:52 / km

Slow and sloppy. Exhausted from the start, due to the heat? Not focused. Did a lot of stops & walking. Don't like blue north lines on the map. And was hard to work my compass (using the old plank, turning the house) when hands and map were slippery from sweat. Cool area though and great course.

1 took the long way around, along the whole cliff
2 must have passed right by it, just didn't look back, up into the next little cliffy hill
3 ok
4 drifted right
5 ok
6 couldn't understand the trails, hesitated and stopped early
7 left 6 in a bad angle, climbed up the yellow to the trail, ran trail to bend, cut over to other big trail, changed my plan when I got to the sharp left bend and went passed control 15 and 12, followed stonewall, crossed stream, took little trail in, some hesitation in circle
8 left 7 without a plan, just a vague compass bearing, ran along some pretty marches but was lost, finally found where I was, way left, ended up attacking the control from SW (saw Charlie and Bob by 7 and they were at 8 before me)
9 passed Charlie on the trail, then went in along the top of the hill, stop to check map and Charlie who took a better route staying low along marsh and stonewall got to the control at the same time as me
10 ok
11 stupid and very tiring up and down, up and down from the SW corner of the parking lot
12 E out of 11 to the big trail, cut through to small trail, then big trail to bend and in to the control
13-15 ok
16 out to the bend of the big trail where some mtb:ers were taking a break and they asked me what we were doing, so I told them a bit about what was going on, before slowly continuing my straight on slog to control 16
17-F ok

FR 10.873km

At one point I realized that I'm mixing Swedish and English in my orienteering thoughts, example: "över mossen och upp till en trail"
