Fairly Ill. Spending the day in bed. Should get me fixed.

In other news, looks like we're moving to Uppsala in September.

Running (off-road) warm up/down 10:28 [2] 0.72 km (14:30 / km) +20m 12:44 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 2016

Warm up. Little bit of laps around the arena and then when Conor went through the spectator I headed into the pen. Bit of banter with Nixon and Peter G before the group in front of Conor came back and I moved into position. A lot of jostling was necessary.

Orienteering race (1:10000) 28:58 intensity: (18:58 @4) + (10:00 @5) *** 4.78 km (6:04 / km) +149m 5:15 / km

JK Relay 4.36km 145m

Conor came back in 16th. Didn't notice that Eoin had finished just in front of Conor. Took off fast with some other guy across the field. Got the overview of the course and saw where the inset was. Looked up and saw James Haynes going over the wall to 1 and was surprised by this. Compass to 1, saw the other gaffel but got mine cleanly. Was then behind James for the mud slog up towards 2 but edged past him to get 2 just in front. Then in the urban we had a totally different bit. Johnny Crickmore came flying past. Saw Nixon and Peter G as people were going every which ways. Heading to 7 I saw James leaving it so I was just behind him. Got 8 cleanly and went ahead of him then to 9. Lungs were having a very tough time on the slight climb up the path to 10 and even more so to the actual control. Was then behind James again and could see an Orion guy just ahead. Hung on as much as I could through 11, 12, 13 but was flagging for the spectator. Stayed high for 15 and saw James stopped lower down the hill. I knew exactly what was happening so spiked it. The run from 16 to the finish was horiffic. My lungs were just full of phlegm and a EUOC guy came past me, only to miss 17. Was ahead as far as the wall into the field but had nothing left for the last bit. Managed to get up the run in and hand over to Kev in 12th.

Kev pulled up another place (by passing the EUOC team) and we finished 11th. Not too bad considering the state of the team at the time. The next positions in front of us were all very tight too.

Running (off-road) warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.02 km (4:54:07 / km) +1m 3:47:16 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 2016

I did some jogging about after the relay. No one seemed interested in a proper cool down and then I got sucked into spectating, watching for Kev and giving him a good shout.

Running (off-road) warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 2016

Run up to the start. Met Gina on her way down after she had forgotten her number. Some running around up at the start then too. Trying to loosen out the lungs. Legs felt quite fine but lungs were not happy at all.

Orienteering (1:15000) 53:00 [3] *** 6.0 km (8:50 / km)

JK Long

Started out and was a bit cold after the 5 minutes of being in the start box. Straight up the hill but I took it handy as I knew there was a long way to go. Got 1 sweetly. Little bit wavy to 2 but happy with how I was going. Straight over the top to 3 and another spike. Pace was still fairly low. Came around the hill for 4 but was too high and then I saw Josh pegging it up towards a control that I could see. It seemed like it was probably the wrong one but I thought it was worth a check. We were too high so dropped down into it then. Led Josh across to 5 then. Climb out of 5 was when I realised things weren't as good as they seemed. Had been going slowly but was still in a world of hurt trying to go uphill slowly. Josh promptly ran away from me. I opted for minimising climb for 6 and took a longer way round. Climbing up to it I was not having a good time and felt generally wrecked. Couldn't get enough air into my lungs to go fast enough to keep warm. Then it started to rain, which turned a little to hail. Little hesitant to 6 and I rapidly got cold. Started towards 7 and realised that it wasn't worth staying out. I was only going to get sicker. I turned and bailed down the hill, attempting to go via 20 but I didn't know where I was starting from and never found it. Did 21 and seemed fine going over the hill for some reason.

Happy I bailed. I was going very slowly and it seemed unlikely I was going to pick it up. The later hail storms and big winds saw more DNFs so I think I made the right call.

Running (off-road) 12:27 [2] 1.78 km (7:00 / km) +19m 6:39 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 2016

Did some warming up on the track back to the cars. Then dropped my jacket before heading to the start. Seemed to be ok enough feeling, though the way to the start being downhill certainly helped a lot. Arrived at the start about 20s before my call up which was a bit lucky!

Orienteering race (1:10000) 42:10 [4] 5.54 km (7:37 / km) +244m 6:14 / km

Jogish back to the arena. Fierce climb out of the finish. Coughing pretty badly.

Running (road) 30:01 [2] 5.19 km (5:47 / km) +32m 5:37 / km
shoes: Inov8 Road-X 255

Still coughing pretty badly but not having run in a week isn't the best way to go into the JK so I went for a jog. Started from the sprint car park and went up to the arena where I did the model map. Came back then to Hyde park and did a lap, including 10 mins of slightly more up tempo work. HR monitor was dead so no HR for the weekend. Felt ok ish but lots of phlegm when I started to breathe hard.

Note
slept:8.0 (sick)

I finally feel healthy ish. No more headaches and the like. Just a blocked nose now. Obviously not going to be 100% for the JK but I'm not too worried.

Stretching/Rehab 10:00 [0]
(sick)

Getting my act together a bit. Got up early enough that a run was possible but the body was not up for it. I'll get out tonight. Did some stretching instead. Bit of pain in the knee again for no apparent reason. Feels very similar to the last time I fell on it way back in 2012.
