Orienteering 58:10 [2] 5.96 km (9:46 / km)

Middle training, nice course on Kauhee. Took it nice and easy and focused on the orienteering. Still had some mistakes but there was some controls where everything clicked, so I should be able to have a good race on the day after a couple more trainings. Felt good cold-wise, it's pretty much gone by now... but my stomach was a bit unhappy, thinking back to the long on Sun it was the same feeling, but on Sun I still had the cold so it was worse. The legs felt really good though, which was nice.

Aaaaand my o-shoe broke... Using Salomons for the long anyway so not too worried, but I'll have to train for the middle in them too which is slightly annoying. I'll be able to buy a new pair after the Long Quali at the latest, so I'll have time to wear them in.

Orienteering 49:25 [4] 7.98 km (6:12 / km)

Local race on long relevant terrain, only 7.2km though. Was feeling good earlier so decided to run fast and see what happened. Started really good, tried the Thierry tactic of just going straight. I tend to drift a bit, and every bit off the line I am is extra distance that he's not running, and he runs that distance faster too so I have to be accurate.

Still, the legs felt good and I was getting the controls well enough, some small slips in the circle. After 9 though my stomach was at me again so I couldn't push myself. Still orienteered pretty well but just couldn't run, even though the legs were fine. Don't really know what's wrong, but I've switched to bottled water now, see if that helps.

I still exist!

Did Jukola, happy enough with the run. I acquired some form of cold the day before and also made some mistakes, so feel like I could have knocked a couple of minutes off, not too annoyed though. Came in 180th, 12 minutes behind Andreas Kyburz over 12.5 ish km.

Then a week in Hallsberg, had intended to train but just rested, did one reeeally slow run on the Friday.

Then to Joensuu!. Started to run the long distance, hadn't intended to finish anyway but i got as far as no 6 before feeling really bad and decided I'd be better off just going back. This was of course as far away from the finish as possible, so I started to go towards 7 then just left it and went back. I think the cold hadn't fully recovered and that was mixed with not eating quite right that day. Got nicely into the map though so I think I'll be able to have a decent crack at it.

Decided I'd be better off doing nothing today, so chilled in bed, had a wee walk around Joensuu and then chilled some more. Probably a good decision, I'll train easy tomorrow morning and if I'm feeling good then I'll do the middle long relevant race in the evening. I'll probably log that stuff...
