Orienteering race 17:00 [4] 3.2 km (5:19 / km) +76m 4:45 / km

District Sprint Champs. Forest sprint so suited me a lot better than a town. Lost about 45 seconds on 2 and maybe 10 sec on 5, but otherwise good.

12 X "Parintervaller" on forest path/tracks. The idea was to pair up with some one who runs at a similar pace and while one was running the other was resting. Made it kind of like a relay race so good motivation.

It pretty close to 500m according to gps. Did the first 6 averaging 1:40 and then I died and was doing ~1:47 for the second 6.

Rest times are about the same really, except for the last few where he started early.

Didn't feel very strong.

Orienteering race 1:12:14 [4] **** 12.18 km (5:56 / km) +254m 5:22 / km

Silva League final.
If were in the top thirty in any of the other races you get points which are translated in to time for a chasing start. More than 20 mins down and it's a mass start. Interestingly all the other races are discarded and the first across the line wins. I had 0 points so I was in the mass start. There was about
15-20 of us I think.

1 was ridiculously easy and just along a path so I was towards the back of the group then cos I'm not as fast. Gradually passed people. Nearly everyone had a mistake at 3 and then I was 2nd and then in front on the way to 4. Panicked and couldn't find it. Relocated and caught everyone who'd messed up 5. Some might have already gotten ahead but I led those who were left into 5 and 6.

Lost some time on 7, got a bit confused in the felled stuff and was feeling tired up the hill. Lost 9 places on the way to 7 but gained 8 on the way to 8 :)

Group was quite spilt by 8. For 9, some went straight, some took my route and some went north around the lake. Straight and path were pretty similar I think.

On 10 a group messed up so there was like 3 or 4 of us who caught them, and then the pace increased like mad and I just hung on to the finish.

Map is coming

Orienteering race 48:13 [4] **** 8.0 km (6:02 / km) +280m 5:08 / km

EOC Relay, 3rd leg.

Felt really relaxed going into the race. I knew I had no chance of competing with the top guys so just planned to run my own race.

I started at pretty much the same time as a GBR 2 ITA 2, but it was obvious that they were both faster runners (at least on the flat) than me straight away.

1: Felt good running up the hill, GB and ITA weren't pulling away much, but they had a different gaffle anyway. I ignored them and made sure I got no. 1 well.

2: Came out to those buildings, saw GB and ITA just ahead. Pushed a bit to keep them in sight, but didn't kill myself. The green at the end of the leg was horrible but not worth going around. I knew where I went in and used the hill as confirmation. GB went a good bit to the right, I kept my line and hit it pretty much head on, just behind ITA.

3: Per Forsberg had said on the speaker that the road was the fastest route. Really easy control. Saw where ITA went in (beside the the dudes with the cameras on top of really obvious scaffolding) and followed him.

4: Potentially difficult control, made sure I had an attackpoint (the end of the open) and was careful going in. Slight hesitation. I saw where I thought it should be but I looked more like a rock or a crag to me. Trusted myself and I was right. I can understand how Wyder ran right by it though. ITA and GB had a different gaffle and had disappeared.

5: I was unsure coming out 4, hit a path but wasn't sure which one. Decided going south and being sure was better than risking north. Ended up on the bigger path. and used it to make sure I got It well.

6: Not hugely difficult. Overshot slightly and hit the path, but corrected quickly.

7: Hadn't planned ahead and I just ran out of 6 in the right general direction. Ended up too high and didn't know where I was. Luckily GB appeared from behind and led me into it.

8-13: Pretty straight forward, kept up with GB and orienteered well.

14: Out onto the ride and there's ITA! Pushed up the hill and thought I could get a decent amount of time on them on the downhill. Turns out I had a slightly longer gaffle though.

15: Not sure if I took the best route choice to this, but I don't think it was bad. Pegged it down the hill. Didn't know if I was ahead or behind ITA and GB, but didn't think about it or let it affect it my orienteering. It was pretty tough going up that hill.

16: Bad routechoice. Wasn't sure what could and could not be crossed under the ski jumps so I went around. I think I lost about 20 secs on it.

17-Finish: Pegged it.

Some small mistakes but overall I'm happy with this.

No quickroute but there's GPS Tracking. I start just after 12:35.

Terrain intervals with the olgy. Feeling strong, little bit hungry at the end.
90 sec, 45 rest. We had a triangle, with side of 300m-400m of which we did 4½ laps.

Orienteering race 1:15:54 [4] **** 12.02 km (6:19 / km) +387m 5:26 / km
shoes: Spiky Salomons

Long distance course in EOC relevant terrain. Really nice terrain. It took a while to get the hang of the contours and I found the green quite tough to navigate in. Feeling tired as well. I seem to be orienteering really well when I'm orienteering well then making mistakes that are pretty big.
3 PM

Run (road) warm up/down 7:55 [2] 1.43 km (5:32 / km) +13m 5:18 / km

Orienteering race 50:14 [4] **** 7.51 km (6:41 / km) +147m 6:06 / km

Middle distance in the same terrain. 1st one was in the middle of the green and i lost a large amount of time. The rest went pretty well. Running with Eken for most of it, and he is damn fast.

10mila. Went ok-ish... Started well orienteering wise, but didn't really have the strength in the legs. There was a good bit of field running at the start after a couple of controls in the forest. I had got these controls well and everyone that didn't just ran by me in the fields which was a wee bit depressing. On the first long leg they kept going past, then I kinda got into a train of people going at the same pace, and I also felt a bit better in the legs.

Next long leg went really nicely. Some short legs and then my torch fell off and disconnected. And suddenly I was all alone. Luckily it was near the control, and the control after was common so I found another train.

Went smoothly for a few more controls and then I followed one Tullinge guy instead of all the people and got lost. We went sort of around a hill on the wrong side and joined up with all the people who had already got it. Ran with them for a couple of seconds and the we realised something was wrong. He shouted "etthundratjugosex!" and then some one in the train was like "därbaks!" except neither of us trusted him and ran around a bit extra. We gained a couple of other guys and then I found it and they followed me in.

Next 3 or 4 went well. I pushed it to try and stay ahead of the other guys and also in a vain attempt to catch the train. And then I messed up again. Lost a good bit of time, I had no idea what I'd done. Found it eventually, and then was pretty much alone for the last few.

Map is huge. I'll try to scan it.

Note
slept:9.0

I seem to have been neglecting my AP recently. Been sick for the past two weeks, ran the Silva Leagues at the weekend anyway. Feeling good today and will do the sprint tomorrow.

All should be well before the Long Night at 10mila
