Running 1:30:00 [3] 15.3 km (5:53 / km) +330m 5:19 / km

Solo long run in høiåsmarka. Had a niggly heel during the UFO training on thurs, so thought I'd just go out and see how it was. Felt alright, so just kept going, and then going a little more, and well, then I had to run home as well. Pretty stoked to get 90mins on the dot.

First long sleeve run of Autumn :( Summer is goneburgers. Will have to book in an NZ summer ASAP.

Biking 35:00 [3] 10.0 km (3:30 / km) +150m 3:15 / km

to/from Spenst

stationary bike 17:00 [2]

Started on the bike, as all the decent elipses were taken...

Ellipse 15:00 [3]

...got sick of the bike, caved and went on the ellipse. Kine was doing 75mins, so she got the one available good one and I took the weird one next to it. How to describe it? It's like you're moon-running, the vertical movement is far too great, and the strides are longer then my little legs are designed for. Kind of like an Olav running style, but not fast.

I'd make an ellipse eccentricity pun...but really it's not the aspect ratio that's wrong. More that I'm just too small for the machine.

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [2]

Left Kine to her ellipsing and went to do strength

Ellipse 16:00 [3]

When I came back the lady on the other good machine was just finishing. Wooo!
Had a play with the virtual courses on the machine - opted for a nice New Zealand hike. A very strange hike that in turn took in the Pinnacles, Avalanche Peak, Pancake Rocks and Franz Josef Glacier (and more but I don't remember what). Anyway, it took me about 10mins to get close to the top of the pinnacles. Must be some kind of record?

Following/coaching the 13-16yo UFO group on their O-intervals.

Running warm up/down 14:30 [3] 2.0 km (7:15 / km)

single line procession out to the start in the middle of the map

Orienteering 39:00 [4] 5.6 km (6:58 / km)

Relay training with a few different national teams, cos the weekend just wasn't enough hard orienteering it seems. Two courses and some good dueling.
I dropped some time on my split on the first course, then got a little distracted when Eva and I came across a hunter with a big gun and an enthusiastic dog. The dog followed us, but fortunately the gun did not.
Managed to win the second course after taking the long-track option on the route choice. Figured it was worth trying while I had others to test against. That, and my legs had had enough of the terrain in any case.

Running warm up/down 9:00 [2] 1.4 km (6:26 / km)

Football 1:10:00 [2] 7.0 km (10:00 / km)

Dragged myself out to football training, despite the strong call of the sofa. Once going though, the body felt surprisingly good. Eventually realised this was probably because there isn't knee high grass and heather on a football pitch, so running feels remarkably easy!
Got the ball booted straight into my chest at one point. Provided a good check of the structural integrity of my sternum. Seems to have knitted back together well. ;)

Note
(rest day)

Briefly thought of going to strength training, just for the social side and a lie on the mat. But opted for lying on the sofa instead.
Training for the day was biking up the hill home from the train station. Plenty hard enough for today.

Orienteering 43:30 [3] 5.8 km (7:30 / km) +140m 6:42 / km

World Cup Relay

Hadn't thought to run today, and instead was lined up to work/volunteer at quarantine. But then the French coach asked if I would like to fill the last spot on a composite team, and I thought 'why not?! what would be more fun than a 4th hard race in tough terrain in 3 days?!'
So I ended up doing both. Working quarantine was good fun! I'm hoping that I can get on the quarantine team for WOC next year, then deny the top girls access to quarantine on account of forged ID's, not meeting dress regulations, being drunk, etc. etc. All the classic bouncer tricks ;)

anyway, I ended up running 3rd leg on a team with Kirsi Nurmi and Florence Hanauer. Went out in 13th position, but was alone the whole course (correction, I got passed by Russia, but I didn't see them at all!). Focus was on having a clean race and not worrying about how tired I felt, hoping all the others felt just as tired.
Didn't understand the circle around 2 and faffed about a minute there, but otherwise just some scrappiness. Enjoyed the course much more than either the pursuit or the long.
Caught sight of Latvia across the felled stuff on the last loop but then had a couple of hiccups so missed the chance to take them in.
