Strength and Conditioning 15:00 [3]

stretching it out. Some deep heat for the quad too. Twinged it towards the end of the middle

Orienteering warm up/down 25:00 [3]

Orienteering race 11:12 [5]
shoes: inov8 X-talon 2012

NOL race 1. Sprint at Uni of Ballarat. Had chosen my inov8s after looking at an old map, but the whole race was inside the buildings area pretty much so could have gone for flats. Oh well.

Good race, legs were dead by number 3 and my L Quad wasn't the happiest, but pulled through ok. Route choice time loss to number 2, where I chose the right hand option, always forget that there are unmapped cars in carparks...then got stuck in a bit of blackberry. What is it with me and managing to cut myself up in sprints?! Anyway 10s lost there. A second or two in other places around the course but really just that one leg. Carved up on the hilly leg to 4 :)

looking at winsplits I think it's the tightest race I've ever had. Rachel and I each had a 10s time loss on one leg (#2 for me #4 for her). Other than that we were trading 1-2s leads the whole way round!
Unlucky for me the final tally had her 1s infront, but I'll settle for that given it was more like 30s a month ago at STB!

Orienteering race 26:52 [5]

NOL race 2. Middle.

A technically clean race and the body felt good too :) Was a bit uncertain to number one when I couldn't quite make sense of the tracks. But told myself not to be silly and went on a bearing noting off features as I went. A few tight controls through 2-5 to get used the terrain a bit, hesitated a bit here but OK early in the race I think.
Bearing was a bit off to 6 where I misread a formline spur as a formline reentrent. Rookie. Also got pulled offline by what I thought was the rough yellow patch, but turned out to be just an ordinary bit of forest?
Careful through the mining detail, sticking to the sides and only heading in when i knew exactly where I was going.
Bit of time loss on the spectator when I went around the back of the hill (still not sure why i did this?)
Then smooth through the 2nd part as I was catching some of the other girls up, which always helps as they lead you into the controls :)

Happy to have a fully clean middle. Finally feel I'm getting somewhere with this distance!

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [1]

7 PM

Football 1:20:00 [3]

Training with an impending thunder storm which hit about 20mins in. Cue hail and pouring rain and it actually got quite cold!
Haven't yet had a training or game without rain!

biking (commute) 40:00 [2]

puddles galore. Almost lost my bike in one...

biking (commute) 18:00 [1]

Home. glad the bike was still there. for the record, as nice as it is to catch the bus and walk in from civic, it takes twice as long as biking in!

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [2]

physio exercises and stretching. Hamstrings slowly recovering but still aren't happy chappies really.
6 PM

Running 54:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2012

Easy run up to Ainslie, single tracks up to the saddle, casual loop through Majura pines, then home.

Bumped into Craney who was just finishing an old twilight course.
And had a dog bump into me...and all but tear my shorts in half with his 'friendly' nip! So had to run home through the streets with my shorts torn pretty much all the way to the waist band on one side. Sure the Aussie rules guys on Dickson oval appreciated it...

atleast they were my $15 warehouse shorts, but still :(

Strength and Conditioning 15:00 [0]

I have til 5pm tonight for my legs to finish recovering...it's gonna be a tight one! (no pun intended).
Mainly just the hammies complaining now.
6 PM

Football 1:30:00 [3]

2nd fed cup game.

A lot less intense than Sunday's game thankfully. Felt a bit out of place but think that's just getting used to the positioning still. Was working better in the 2nd half. taking time getting used to listening to my defenders, rather than doing all the talking+directing myself like i had to in my old team. Seems I can't manage talking and listening at the same time!

Losst 2-1, conceding a goal in last 5mins. But not unhappy with the game, team's starting to click and we were creating opportunities up front unlike on Sunday.
Got a sweet bruise on my shin, an annihilated toe nail and an uncooperative L quad, but worth it :)

Football warm up/down 20:00 [3]

not enough warm down again. But dinner called.

Strength and Conditioning 18:00 [2]

Managed to sleep through the alarm this morning, so no need for the snooze button!
Pleased that i could even get out of bed actually
6 PM

Running 36:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2012

Pre pide and map run with GrantM. Pretty much the same loop as yesterday but my body felt infinitely better (but not the best), so maybe i underestimated yday's time.

no swings this time round :(
9 PM

Strength and Conditioning 20:00 [0]

more stretching. Stocked up on deep heat, electrolytes and energy gels. Hopefully that sees me through tomorrow's game!

Strength and Conditioning 40:00 [1]

morning + evening stretching and exercises. ITB roll out i think looks more painful to spectators than it feels.
1 PM

Football 1:30:00 [4]

The wonders of artificial turf - no doubt that soccer game would still be on, yet orienteering was cancelled...pretty sure that's a first!

AIS pitch was waterlogged to start with, resulting in worst start to a debut ever...My pass to the right back from the kick off got stuck halfway in a puddle. Was pounced on by an attacker who went straight past the flat footed defence and scored. :(

Pretty sure I made amends in the next 89.30 though. 1-0 at the break, Lost 4-0 all up, once we lost our legs in the 2nd half. but that first goal hardly counts and another was a fluke. Yeah excuses. But considering we're a bunch of students who have had 6 trainings and no matches together, vs an ACTAS team who train and play together all year round, I think we held our own.

My body is a wreck now though. Was epicly cramping after 75mins when I was doing a shed load of running to fill gaps.

Football warm up/down 20:00 [3]

4 PM

Running 35:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2012

run with bun and sah. Or a hobble rather. Felt I needed a decent warmdown to get the junk out of my legs. Regretted it 5mins in but think it did do a world of good in the end.
Just to the edge of ainslie, gate-gate and back (via the playground with sah for a go on the swings)
