UNO local meet at Sergeant Center near Dublin, NH. Not a good run, either physically or technically. Upper outside part of right calf started hurting after about 25 minutes and bothered me the rest of the way. It never got real bad, but I wasn't moving well, and also was worrying about what was happening. Not too bad afterwards, a little sore, but we will probanly skip the WCOC meet tomorrow. First calf problem since January. Routes/comments.

orienteering 1:14:30 [4] 8.7 km (8:34 / km) +1050ft 7:14 / km

Ran blue course (which I'd set) from day 2 of the New England Champs in 1979 at Quabbin Hill. Good steady effort, working a few times on relaxing to keep my pace sustainable. Seemed to help. Routes/comments.

road running 10:30 [2]

Getting to the start and back from the finish (cars haven't been allowed on or below the dam since 9/11).

part trail, part woods 1:24:00 [3]
ahr:144 max:164

Deer season (the shotgun part) is this week and next, so Phil and I ran in the Quabbin watershed where hunting is only allowed a couple of days (Thursday and Friday). Phil suggested we try some woods intervals. We quickly determined that running off-trail at any pace would get the heart going, as the ground was soft and there was a good bit of knee-high underbrush. So we did 5 x about 10 minutes of woods running with either some trail running or a moment to admire the scenery in between. Very fine training, and good practice trying to match up the terrain with the not so accurate 1:24,000 map.

mountain biking 1:20:00 [2]
ahr:130 max:155

With Walter on the trails south of his house in the Conway hills. First time on a mountain bike, think I'm still in one piece though I will surely have some sore places tomorrow. No crashes!
