Sunday Oct 11 #

12 PM

Cycling 2:09:56 intensity: (55:31 @1) + (1:03:32 @2) + (10:53 @3)
ahr:137 max:173

Easy out to the Yak, 62.26 km (28.8 kph) +321m

Nice and sunny, could almost call this enjoyable. Managing to ride at a not too embarrassing pace as well.

12 PM

Cycling 2:08:11 intensity: (1:20:31 @1) + (42:54 @2) + (4:46 @3)
ahr:129 max:161

Easy to Gladsmuir and Dalkeith CP, 55.16 km (25.8 kph) +630m

Hole in the foot seems to be healing quite nicely actually, doesn't look completely horrifying, so a good decision to move onto the bike. The bike shop has an 18-day wait for a service, so decided to try and fix the disc brakes myself. They certainly work, and aren't noticeably running. I really don't think they are worth the cost and hassle though. Next bike will be better group-set and callipers.

Friday Oct 9 #

11 AM

Cycling 2:09:48 intensity: (1:44:06 @1) + (25:42 @2)
ahr:119 max:154

Easy out to Gladsmuir, 50.88 km (23.5 kph) +601m

Tried to see if I could run on the blister (which is actually just a huge hole in my big toe), pain was tolerable, but clearly it wasn't allowing the tissue time to heal in between. So taken what would have been my own advice if I was an athlete, and stopped running until it heals over. Had to burrow Jimbo's bike as both of mine are out-of-action at the moment.

10 AM

Running 1:15:14 intensity: (1:02 @1) + (1:13:48 @2) + (24 @3) 16.88 km (4:27 / km) +58m 4:23 / km
ahr:146 max:158 shoes: NB 1080 T1

Easy on the Pencaitland Railway

Double wrapped the blister, and it felt pretty good for the first few km, but then after a while it was pretty obvious that everything had kind of split open again. Pain was tolerable, and I wasn't going to do any more damage (and it was nice and clean) so kept with it. Didn't feel particularly great, and was conscious of trying to not alter my gait and get a compensation injury from trying to protect my foot.

Wednesday Oct 7 #

11 AM

Running 1:16:07 intensity: (5:22 @1) + (1:10:45 @2) 15.94 km (4:46 / km) +20m 4:45 / km
ahr:142 max:155 shoes: NB 1080 T1

Easy round the Meadows

Wrapped and strapped the blister as much as I could and went down to the soft grass of the Meadows so I could bail if needed. Actually wasn't too bad, walking is worse than running. Feeling a bit ploddy, but that's what easy Wednesdays are for. Probably a week or so before the foot is properly better.

Running 40:01 intensity: (13 @1) + (22 @2) + (5:25 @3) + (19:53 @4) + (14:08 @5) 11.93 km (3:21 / km) +4m 3:21 / km
ahr:180 max:191 shoes: Nike Zoom Fly

Hounds Intervals on the Meadows, 4 x 8mins (2mins float)

A bit of disorganisation on the first rep with the sub15 group starting with us. The pace was probably just over the limit, but the split away in the first float and we settled back in nicely to pace. Could feel a hefty blister developing quite early on, ran through it, now I have quite a large hole in my foot. Yum.

Running warm up/down 19:11 intensity: (16:23 @1) + (2:48 @2) 3.26 km (5:53 / km) +17m 5:44 / km

Running 30:59 intensity: (30:57 @1) + (2 @2) 5.68 km (5:27 / km) +22m 5:21 / km
ahr:123 max:136 shoes: NB 1080 T1

Recovery round the Meadows

Was expecting to feel trash after a big day on the Seat yesterday, but was pleasantly surprised with how everything was. A bit of soreness in the lower legs from running in O-shoes for 2.5hrs, but no generally heaviness. Nice.
5 PM

Running 45:08 intensity: (2:30 @1) + (42:21 @2) + (17 @3) 10.2 km (4:25 / km) +24m 4:22 / km
ahr:145 max:158 shoes: NB 1080 T1

Easy round the Meadows

Bumping this up to 45mins now. Nice to see that I can actually hit the HR and pace values that Jack Daniels thinks I should. No strict target pace for this, just want to be running aerobically easy. Still reserving the right to plod if fatigue from a weekend though.
