Orienteering race (Castlecomer) 1:04:41 [5] 8.6 km (7:31 / km) +100m 7:06 / km

Didn't do very well here. Navigationally I was ok but my concentration was a little lacking, navigating to the wrong controls on 2 separate occasions costing me a heap of time. I lost a little interest after this and ran without purpose for the latter half.

Fun night O on Tramore. We had to do 2 random loops out of 3 available. A lot of us had the same 1st loop so there was a big train for all of it. 2nd loop was on my own, slower but my navigation was good. Happy to come in 2nd behind Ruari with a very good time.

Over to the sports centre and then the time spent looking for the group. Should have checked Nova UCD but instead just went straight up to deer park so then went back down by kielys to find them warming up on the grass

quick stretching and then straight into 4*7mins with 3mins rest on a loop i've never done before. Started at the Nova entrance on fosters avenue and then followed the outer perimeter around to the main entrance, up to the running track and pretty much straight from there passing the bike shop and glenomena. Only had the idea of doing 3 of them but i felt ok after 3 so did the last one. Felt good being one of 5 who did all 4 along with Jonny. My lower calf pain had eased a lot after a day off yesterday and some aggressive treatment but it wasn't really a surprise to feel it again after these reps. It doesn't feel as bad as Tuesday so im quite optimistic that i can fix it by continuing my treatment of it.

4 * 1mile with UCDAC. Good turnout from the Orienteering club. I felt quite good for these aerobically but the legs were a little sore from yesterday. Started all reps quite steady and then progressed through passing people towards the middle and end, felt like I actually had quite an even pace through the reps. My lower right calf started giving me a little bother after the 2nd rep. It was a sharpish pain and it still sore after the session for i've iced it and done some rolling on it. Hopefully I can fix the problem early rather than let it get worse. Not sure about that long run now tomorrow but i'll see in the morning.
