Lofty Mountain Running
8:06 AM. Bridgewater. Burned 1645 calories.

My longest run in quite some time. We all took the ramble up the hill and i got to chat to just about everyone since they all looped back to make sure i hadn't died (actually to make sure i wasn't walking). The last km of this was nearly vertical up to the summit of Mt Lofty which is odd since you'd never think Mt Lofty could ever be "near vertical." I do remember walking up that steep bit with a 15kg pack on in my days as a scout. At the top we had time for a Lemon Icy pole, and a good look at the view. Gerry V decided he'd like to say hi to us so he rode all the way up Mt Lofty just so he could. The run back down had us slipping under the gate at Mt Lofty Gardens so Simon could run fast when he encountered a ranger asking how he got in there. We all met at the bottom since we thought it wise to scatter ourselves through the park, I was overcome by the smell of Maple Syrup, but couldn't find the right tree to lick. The rest of the run was pretty tough just keeping a pace going. My legs were tired. But i finished ok even though we encountered a snake on the track. Afterwards we did our usual drop in to Stirling Organic Cafe for elevensies where we found Zara and a rowdy Callum. Oh and Lauren was almost hit by an ambulance.

A little run with the gang. My legs took forever to warm up probably because i had the laziest day on record for me. Bridget and I too a break to observe a Koala climbing a tree which then proceeded to call for his mate (at the time i'm sure he thought Bridget was his mate). I stopped again for water on the way back down at Karka Pavillion. And we had a good ol' break at the dam to let Zara try to convince Callum Dog to go for a swim with her. Instead Zara convinced Jenny. I managed to hold a fastish pce back to the cars as i tried to catch up after laggin behind the rest. It was all the running i needed for the evening.

I went out to check control sites for Orienteering this Friday. It was a load of fun, especially the bit where i had to puch my bike up all those stairs to get to Nicolle Avenue. I think the courses and the event this Friday should be pretty good after going to all the control sites. Everyone should come along!

Laps around the Sturt Campus oval with some run-throughs thrown in for good measure. Simon taught me to run with a higher cadence/shorter stride. It worked.

Course: Sprint 3.1 km
I had to start first with Adrian, and he was being a bully.... He tried to hit me with the big stick that was acting as our start line. So i ran faster than him and beat him. The course was awesome although i had a few shaky legs both the navigation kind and the physical kind. I hate hills - even little ones. I kept ahead of Adrian for the first 2/3rds of the course when i was starting to fade, but thankfully Adrian completely cocked up the last couple of legs and i was surprised to see him run in behind me. It was loads of fun all up!

Grange Rd to Wilpena St

I joined the gang for the last time at Grange Road since Eric is moving out and thus ends a long association with the house. I lead the group to the bottom of Randells where i left them to their own defences and i climbed my way to the top of Blackwood triangle. It was a pretty good run for me and at the top i kept a solid pace all the way home. It was fun.
