NOL Sprint B Final - UNSW Course: M21E 3.8 km 64 m

A race to remember. This was truly the jewel in the Sydney Madi Gras Orienteering weekend. This had everything you'd want in a sprint - fast paced terrain, complex navigation, excellent route choice options and a strong depth of competition. The campus was pretty unique too with plenty of things to try and distract even the most focussed orienteer. I probably only made a couple of poorer route choices, particualry # 13 where i went out to the road, rather than to the tunnel. And the long leg to 15, where i failed to spot the nice entrance from the road back into the campus which led me to take the very stair-y option down the middle of the map. After the debacle that was the qualifier, i was very pleased to be leaving Sydney feeling like i was challenged and that i enjoyed a race. Still not the fastest, but for me i though i did alright.
Watching the end of the A final was pretty exciting, made me want to try and get faster. Then i thought "bugger that." I think i may bow out of elite competition without ever making a top 10 in a race. I'll leave that to those who give a stuff about training. From now on AS or A LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG for me. Somewhere where i can feel like i can compare splits with the other competitors.
