Rough weather meant a smaller social paddle group leaving us with the choice of sea kayaks or the Daggers. We took sea kayaks for a change.

Small group without too much experience so there wasn't a lot of pushing. Some sprints, then a lesson on the kayak stroke, follwed by a game of "catch up".
Catch up was rough. The straight away was incredibly short and the kayaks were crazy heavy during the turning. My tricepts were aching after from the hard sweep strokes going into the turns.

Spent some time in the west-most channel herding a group of fluffy new ducklings. One duckling had become separated from the group as the mom rushed away from us. I wasn't going anywhere until he was back with his mom or the group. It was traumatizing to see the little guy on his own squeeking away with the big motor boats going through! At least it was a no wake zone. Happily he got back together with his sibs in the end and I'll be able to sleep.
