Harvester Relays. Team finished 2nd, and 1st Handicap.

Leg 4 for the SYO A team. Went out in the lead with Mark Bown, but couldn't quite match his pace and by #4 I was on my own. Struggled several times to find the end of small rides and indistinct paths, so ended up wading through bramble and bracken in the forest a couple of times. Lost about 12 minutes to Mark by the end of the leg, but was still in 2nd place.

Orienteering race 35:31 intensity: (1 @0) + (32 @1) + (51 @2) + (23:46 @3) + (10:21 @4) 7.84 km (4:32 / km) +34m 4:26 / km

Milton Keynes Urban Race (UKUL). MVet, 1st.

Second race of the day after about an hour's sleep after leg 4 of the Harvester. Picked Lesley up at MK station.

Decided that if I was going to get beaten for running speed, I should at least try to have a perfect technical run and be smooth through the controls. That plan worked well, with no mistakes through some quite technical sections. Towards the end, on a fairly long easy leg I decided to push harder, which was the trigger for my one mistake where I missed a turn off a road so ended up taking a different longer route. Annoyed with myself for that, as it probably cost me 30 seconds. As it turned out, I won by a minute, so no harm done.

Another 100 points in UKUL.

Arun's birthday orienteering event - 1 hour score. My watch dies after 50 minutes, so I had to head back a couple of minutes earlier than I would have liked.

Colton (Leeds) urban, UKUL, MVet, 2nd.

Generally good technically, but a little tired from athletics the previous day. Slight confusion at #22 (where I started heading from #21 to #2), which cost me 20 secs or so.

Simon M beat me by a few seconds, and I don't think we were ever more than 20 secs apart for the whole course.

Running race 30:00 [0] 6.0 km (5:00 / km) +1m 5:00 / km

Athletics for Hallamshire at Doncaster. 400H, 3kSC and 100H, with warming up as well.

Ridiculously windy (headwind on the back straight, and tailwind on the home straight), so I managed to "4-stride" the first 2 hurdles in the 110, before I reverted back to the much safer 6 strides between hurdles!

Shamrock O-Ringen Day 3, M45. 3rd, but 2nd overall in the chasing start.

Today was the worst weather day of the weekend, with heavy rain and gale force winds. At least the cloud wasn't covering the hill. Having missed #3 by ~4 minutes, I decided that from then on it was just a case of plodding round and securing my 2nd place in the chase. No chance of catching Neil 12 minutes ahead, and hopefully I wasn't going to get caught by the next M45 18 minutes behind me!
