Note
(rest day)

On my way the big apple today, by train thankfully given the weather, for the not to be missed annual NYC fashion week- well missed by me except today- Rachel showing on the runway in a competition her school entered her in. Fingers crossed she gets a job out of this (winning would be nice for her too)- my investment costs are escalating :-)
Plan to stretch the legs around Central Park on route to Lincoln Center.

With time to kill, work done, rain stopped somewhere near New London, checked masters T and F rankings- pleased to note that times from 400 thru mile held up pretty well and made top 25 lists- improved over last year - just a pity I couldn't get to Nationals and like in Aug to give one final push- no injuries at least just conflicting priorities and viral / bacterial illnesses. Looking forward to indoor season. Maybe extend range to 3000m-to do anything more I would have to start doing some serious mileage; time and inclination challenges.

Walking 1:15:00 [1] 7.0 km (10:43 / km)

Penn ST to central park to Lincoln center to park again, down , beer and tea on way and back to Penn. Nice day but sweatily humid even walking.

Supima show had some talent- Rachel's creations showed very well- one of 8 finalists and very first showing at Fashion Week, so very commendable.

Walking 22:00 [1] 2.0 km (11:00 / km)

Solid rain, good for the garden.
POA for next few months. Next few weeks easing back, body needs to rest I feel.
Sept and October - back to building base, reduced intensity, building strength (gym, plyos)
Nov, Dec - back to speed work
Jan, Feb, indoor track comps

Jogging warm up/down 28:00 [2] 5.0 km (5:36 / km)

Weather-wise thought it would be a treadmill day- however weather cleared so out to MIT track- I kinda love intervals. W/U plus 4x50m strides and stretches / drills etc.

Track intervals 11:11 intensity: (3:11 @3) + (8:00 @4) 3.2 km (3:30 / km)

Cool 60s but not humid and blustery breeze down home straight. 2x200, 2x400,1x800, 2x400, 2x200 with 100 recovery between 2s and 200 between 4s and 8 etc. Deliberately kept this at 80-85% and no more. 200s were there to focus on pace and form. Went as follows:
38.6
40.1
84
86
3:03
84
83
35.5
36.3
Avg 400s = 86.6
Avg 200s=37.7

Jogging warm up/down 6:00 [2] 1.1 km (5:27 / km)

Very stiff and sluggish
11 AM

Orienteering 36:29 [3] 5.27 km (6:56 / km) +62m 6:33 / km

Horn Pond after some beginner coaching. Warm and quite humid. Very rusty and messed up a couple of controls - 1:10000 scale and poor print quality contributed- although big problems at #8 which based on 3 attack points was likely misplaced on a cliff about to west of where marked. So starts the fall season.......
6 PM

Walking 27:00 [1] 2.4 km (11:15 / km)

A tad cooler but still heavy- anyhow doggie time
