Note
(rest day)

Quick note from the road- day trip to Miami and up way too early and will get back late

Sunday Oct 17, 2010 #

Orienteering race 1:03:07 intensity: (20:00 @3) + (35:00 @4) + (8:07 @5) **** 5.6 km (11:16 / km) +195m 9:36 / km
spiked:11/13c

Another solid but not stellar race- B+. Went out a little too strong for first 2 controls which I fluffed dropping about 3-4 there. Got it together and executed long legs pretty well if somewhat slow, a bobble on 8 and 9 so maybe 5-6 mins all told. Pretty consistent in technical terrain across both days and finished 2nd in age group behind Ernst and ahead of Stanislav. Not sure where on green overall.

Walking warm up/down 35:00 [2] 1.5 km (23:20 / km) +220m 13:28 / km

Up to start, plus some jogging and dynamic stretching.

Note

Gorgeous drive home via Bennington, Brattleboro and route 2 courtesy of excellent instructions from bl (was shorter and quicker than Mass Pike route up to Moreau).
Superb weekend of Orienteering put on by EMPO and great course setting by Glen. Definietly worth the trip (4 am rise tomorrow to get to Miami for the day!) Thanks to all.

Orienteering race 1:02:54 intensity: (20:00 @2) + (22:54 @3) + (20:00 @4) **** 5.5 km (11:26 / km) +220m 9:32 / km
spiked:11/12c

Day 1 green X. Steady run- jog might be better description due to incipient paranoia of losing contact with map - consequently no major loses - overall B+ with poorly executed long leg to 3 (2 mins), a few other hesitancies (so maybe 4-5 mins total). Anyhow top 3.

Walking warm up/down 35:00 [1] 1.8 km (19:27 / km) +190m 12:44 / km

Up to start and then jogging a bit

Walking 21:00 [1] 2.0 km (10:30 / km)

After yesterday- a bright new day-0 right!
A little blogarsis-anger/denial/acceptance stuff- must have wasted 4 hours yesterday with police report, bank card notifications, SSN/FTC, fraud alert, replacement DL etc etc- the list went on and on as I carried my life in my back pocket. Fortunately a lot of stuff could be covered online- even owe my secretary the train fare home :-)
Turns out the bolt-cutting scum bag who did this tried to access my account with 18 mins of me hitting the gym! No damage as yet- will monitor daily.
Will change procedures forthwith.
11 AM

Note

The day improves- wallet found at Kendall Sq Marriott- cash gone but nothing else- so hopefully no ID theft intent.
12 PM

Jogging warm up/down (easy) 25:00 [2] 4.0 km (6:15 / km)

Run to track a few laps, 8x100m strides (around 19s), run back and done

Theft at gym- some really nice low life cut off my combination padlock and stole my wallet with ALL my IDs, cc #s etc. Major hassle- police report, bank and credit alert, drivers license- oh boy- deep breath. Now where is that
32kg kettle bell?
